Default New 250watt setup..

Hey everyone!.. So I just recently started growing And was only working with CFLs, and was told that's definitely not the way to go if you want decent bud.. And i was Thinking about a 150watt HPS but i knew that was kinda low and found this deal so i took it..
Ive been looking around like crazy and Found a 250watt Hydrofarm HPS With a new Bulb and he tossed in the Hanger for it too for $165Bucks Out the Door, So i think i got a good Deal there..
So now my new Questions are,
Can i use the HPS bulb In Veg and Flowering?.. Or should i Use my CFLs for veg then Switch to the HPS after?..
here is a new pic of my setup still a work in Progress..

Plants prefer the blue end of the spectrum for vegging. They actually thrive on a full spectrum of light. The red spectrum tends to trigger flowering.
I have also read that the red spectrum aids in root growth. I have also read that a plant requires the blue spectrum for all stages of growth for photosynthesis.
If you are not concerned with power consumption... I bet your plants would love you if you combined the two.
If you veg with only the HPS it is most likly the plant with stretch and have a greater distance between the node's.

Hey there yb. Nice to see you here.
I personally use a 200w cfl ecolite for v eg then use a 250w hps for flowering. Works very well as I can veg whilst flowering so always have plants ready to go in. Ive only been growing like this for 3 mths and am jus about to harvest the first grow from it. It will become a perpetual SOG eventually. thought Id do a straight grow fisrt to get used to the new/different wattage. Had to down size from a 400w Dual spec. Wicked bulb. You can veg and flower with these type of bulbs. Never used a hps to veg as it not the best way to do things. Plants will be taller and thinner as the spectrum(orange/red) is best for flowering.MH and cfls with a spec colour in the blue range(6400k-4000ketc) are what the plant uses to grow leaf/stems/branch. You can get 250w dual spec which are hps bulbs but with a little blue in there. This what Im gonna grow with once this lot is done. Hope this helps. The pic didnt go up either. What you gonna be growing and how?
redz...

At the seedling stage the cfl will do. Once they get a little bigger you will want to add more light,

When you flower it would be of benefit to add some cfls in the blue range to your 250w hps. When I flowered with my 250whps there was quite abit of stretch which I didnt get so bad when I used the dual spec bulb.Like nshinning said they really flourish under a full spectrum of light.
