cool tubes work great for their purpose. There are only a few drawbacks to them that I can think of. One would be the amount of noise that is usually present when using them because of fans running so much in the area, that is more the fault of any fan that is selected and not the cool tube itself causing that issue though, a quiet fan will give quiet results (of course

)
Another issue would be if someone is using a lightmover then it becomes difficult to use a cooltube with them because of the ducting. Giving some extra slack in the duct and tying it back loosely usually solves this issue easily though.
The benefits of the device are simple to weigh IMO. Being able to get the light as close as 2-3 inches from the canopy without any heat issues.
