I am debating on two 600 watt HPS or two 400 hps which would work best for penetration, light coverage, and pricing
i was going to go # 400 hps ?
or 2 600 hps
but was wondering what i actually need ?? to flower in a 6 x 6 room
thanks again your help is appreciated |

The 2 600s can be put close to the canopy and will give better light penetration then the 2 400s. My 600wHPS produces results very close to my buds 1000wHPS because of the light penetration. In a 6x6 I would go with the 2 600s or 3 400s. Its the same amount of watts and the 400s could be placed closer. Good luck whatever you decide!

All the searching and pricing that I have done. I went with 2 lumetek 400 watt hps digital ballast lights. The reason I went with the 400's was the price of bulbs. The bulbs for the 600's seem way more expensive and not as readily available. The lumetek hps digital , you can also run the full spectrum metal hailide bulbs in the digital ballasts. Hope this helps...

Go for it National! The 400 and 600 sounds like a great idea and would definitely work. I have 1 600w in a 5X4 area. Its not whats recomended for that space but it works very nice! If I could afford the extra electricity I would add a 400w that I allready have.

I flower with one 600 and one 400, and I like the combination. The plants under the 600 tend to stretch less, and I get more yield.

One 600 on a light mover is good too. You have a lot of options. Since you have the 400, get a light mover and see how it works. If your not happy go with a 600 on the mover. Otherwise spend the money on the 600 and put it with the 400 and get the 1000w you need for the area you have. Thats what I would do! Peace Out~!

6'X6' hmmmmmmmmmmm i'm suggesting a 1000 watter on that one. By the time you run two 400s it loses efficiency. 600 not enough I dont think. that thousand watter would rock em good in that space just ventilate it correctly and you'll see what I mean. Just my pennies worth but i'd have to reccommend that lamp setup. Remember to use this formula when figuring amperage draw for lights and appliances. watts divided by 120 and that gives you your amp draw average.
Peace

actually 2x 600 w will put out more lumens than one 1000W pluss the light will be more evenly spread out,

Less your running 220 volt then divide by 220 sorry forgot to mention that. in a 6'X6' DONT RUN 220VOLTS!!!!!!!! I wouldnt reccomend that unless you are an experienced Electrician and Fire is extremely more of a concern with that much Voltage not too mention one mistake and your fried DEAD.

Also depends on what kind of HPS bulb you burn. All of em dont put out the same lumens. Bulbs are an important part of the equation.

Just a suggestion for thought....
Why not search around for a hydrofarm light track? They have been reported to be decent lightmovers for about $110. The main purpose of these is to ensure that light penetration is the best it could be from all angles around the bud. I think with one you would never have any question about the intensity of the light in your space, nor would you ever need anymore.

im not a fan of lightmovers..they are just one more moving part to waer out, and if they fail and send your light crashing, your out more money....im partial to big wattages...id plop 2 1000 watters in there and mean it.lol | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
