Rep Power: 133 | | HPS bulb questions
Howdy Y'all
I gots some more for ya.
1) How long befre the HPS bulbs start to lose lumens and or change spectrums so I know when to replace my bulb?
2) Would it be worth it to buy a spendy Hortilux type bulb instead of the inexpensive Sylvania grow bulbs?
3) I know that the HPS is supposed to be the best all around bulb but would it be worth it to get a MH conversion bulb for veg?
Thanks again!!!!

Hey closet, you paid attention hey? Cool.
It is actually believed to grow all the way thru vegging and flowering using an hps is best. They than suggest to use mh for the last two weeks.
I just use hps all the way.
Peace~

Rep Power: 167 | | Ive done HPS all the way as well. Great results. I used MH for veg this time....Havent noticed that much of a difference. They say that MH during veg helps keeps internodes tighter. Well....In my experience...its more the strain and genes that decide that. I have one plant that I alternate lighting on. One day Mh...The next HPS. Still in veg right now. But I'll flower it the same way and see what comes. MH/HPS...You be the judge. |

Rep Power: 167 | | I guess I should also throw in there that Greg Green's Cannabis Breeder's Bible states that using MH for veg and HPS for flowering contributes to higher female ratios. Take it for what its worth. I veg'd 10 plants and got 3 males....70% aint bad. |

I always thought it was MH during veg and HPS for flowering. I'd like to read that link if you could provide it.
I'm a new grower (Jock Herrer) and am ready to switch from floro's to HID's (I have both - 400 watts) and want my first grow to go as good as poosible.
Thanks.

Hey Tic-tac toke,Veg with MH and flower with HPS.There's been alot experiment testing and alot is true and somes not.The old tryed and true MH veg & Hps Flowering. There are people veg & flowering with HPS only. They are saying there's not much differents by useing hps all the way through the plants live cycle. What closetdwc is talking about is studies of hps-mh to see if there's better ways of useing the lights. PEACE I'am old school MH-HPS

Thanks tokecrazy. I'm going to stick with the old school MH for veg and HPS to flower, especially since this is my first grow.
Thanks for the reply.

| | | deffinitly backwards.
its mh for veg/hps for flower. the spectrum of the respective bulbs better matches the need of the plants. I runn 3000 watts in a 9x6 room...i run 2000 watts mh and 1000watts hps for veg..and 2000 watts hps and 1000watts mh for flower....my theory is its closer to natural sunlight that way.
