Burnt out 1K HPS

My 1k HPS burnt out yesterday morning. I replaced it with a 1k MH conversion bulb.

I have read that some people use MH for the last couple of weeks of flowering. Since these girls have about 6 weeks to go, will using the MH have any detrimental effect?

The HPS had been used for only 1 8 week flowering period. I am only mildly upset about it.

I would sure as hell send it back if I only got 8 hrs. from it! What brand of lamp?

Never thought about the conversion MH being good for flower...don't see why not...this plants are always coming up with something new!

What kind of ballast are you using? I have heard that certain bulbs are not compatible with Electronic Ballasts and burn out early.

I'm not sure. It's in a blue case. I'll check in the morning. It came as a set. I ordered the conversion bulb at the same time.

lol, that was one 8 week flowering cycle, not 8 hours

i'd still look to get my money back, and if they were sold as a set, you'd think they'd be compatible

Shit Pappy! Your older that Dirt! You know thAt MH is for Veg and HPS is fpr bloom! In any situation you can NOT I repeat NOT put a MH (conversion or not) in a HPS ballast! Pappy What the Heck were you thinkin????

Oh, but I beg to disagree, fred.

It is a "GorwBrite" ballast. It is a HPS ballast that can use a MH conversion bulb. I used the MH for veg on a previous grow. The MH is working fine, but I'm pissed about the HPS. I'll call HTG a see what he will do. I still haven't called him about the 400w MH conversion bulb that had only 2 weeks of burn.

Did ya call Pappy? I would of been on them like white on rice when the first one went. Hope ya get what ya deserve sweetie, two new bulbs better than the last 2.
