Allright my 1000 watter just **** the bed.
It is in relatively good shape, and I woke up to it being dead.
I am only vegging not flowering, so I grabbed a MH light for now to substitute.
I'd rather the intensity of the 1000hps during vegging, rather than the proper light color of the mh because it is only 400 watts.
(The babies are doing fantastic too)
Is there any way to pinpoint the exact problem? be it the bulb or a part of the ballast?
I had a 1000 HPS go bad a couple weeks ago. The element had popped and it was crooked. The hydro store replaced it because it was new. Everything is great now. This does remind me that I probably should keep a spare. How old is the bulb?

Yah, I'm thinking ballast this time.
I had some spare bulbs of unknown origin, three of em to be exact and tried em all, so I cant think I have 4 bad bulbs.
I am thinking of rebuilding the ballast, but would love to know for sure, I'm doing the right thing.
Would an ohm meter help? I'm obviously not an electrician.
Oh, you didn't mention you'd already tried other bulbs. Probably the ballast. How old is it? My hydro store said you should buy new ballasts every 4-5 years to maintain peak performance.
