Default Would this be too stressfull?

Started by seeds 4 weeks ago, put into miracle grow potting soil 3 weeks ago and am blown away at how bushy and short they are staying, short internodal spacing.. I am amazed, nothing like first grow, too leggy.

Anyways got a few good grow books and faced with a tough question.

Been running 18/6 under 2700k CFL's, like I said above, I am amazed how good they look. Just picked up some 6500k CFL's and put them in a few mins ago, as all the books say it's best for veg stage, then back to 2700k for flower.

****Will I be stressing the plants too much by changing from 2700k CFL's to 6500K CFL's in mid-stream of veg stage????****

Thanks for all your wisdom, or lack of it in my case..hahaha

I don't think that would be too stressful on them. If you are keeping the light cycle the same, as well as everything else, the change in light spectrum should not cause them too much stress. I think you actually want a blend of 2700k and 6500k to veg. I have read and been told that you still need some of that 2700k spectrum during veg.

Thanks for the fast reply Bro, yes I do remember reading the info somewhere, so maybe a 75% 6500k to 25% 2700k ratio for the veg stage, then reverse for flower stage.

I totally agree with GreenGoblin...I don't think it will be too stressful to change the light spectrum but I have had best results with a blended spectrum...sometimes you can see the enhanced effect of blending where a plant gets a good overlap from two different spectrum lights as apposed to overlap from two lights of the same spectrum...that is one of the definite advantages of CFL's...you can change the blend throughout the life cycle to fit your preferences. My preference is start with all blue (6500k) durring early veg, then 2 to 1 blue to red (2700k) about two weeks before flower, then 2 to 1 red to blue durring flower. I don't know for sure how good a protocal that is but it works well for me.

Default I think that is about right..

Sounds right to me.. I am running 7 6500k and 2 2700k bulbs right now for veg. I plan on flowering under a HPS, and may add a few CFLs as well.

Blending sounds good to me, just didnt want to stress the pups out. I am just blown away how good they look only 4-5" tall, but bigger around than the bloody 12" pot I got them in, short, fat, and bushy (the plants, not the women, LOL).
Thanks,

Sock
