Default Will This Light Work!

Hi Folks,

I am building a grow cabinet that will measure 24"x32"x48" tall. This will mainly be used for vegetation, I have a larger space (closet) for the flowering stage. My question is will this light work?

Compact T5 FLUORESCENT GROW LIGHT Fluorex 2 TEK 400 hps - eBay (item 180248292883 end time Jun-15-08 13:00:00 PDT)

I was thinking of mounting 2 of these fixtures in this cabinet. That would be 20,000 lums. Would I need additional side lighting? I will be lining the cabinet with reflective mylar. Is it possible that one light would be enough. I only plan on having 3 plants at a time in there. Has anyone used this light or the company selling it?

Thanks in advance,

Madman

Madman,

That would be a good light for your space, however here is one that would be far better. More lumens in the space = more vegitation. I don't se how they are getting 10,000 lumens from a 2 lamp T-5 that is 2 ft. long.

High Tech Garden Supply

HTG is an excellent seller, and you can call him direct and order over the phone if you wish. I've bought from them a number of times and have been very pleased.

Default Lighting

ISO thanks for the fast reply!! Would the 6 lamp be enough or would I need additional side lights? Was hoping that the upper lights and the mylar would be enough for good veg. I would have a 4.5 inch fan for intake and exhaust which I hope is enough to keep it cool which should be. Using the T5 lights, how tall can the plants get before the bottoms start losing light?

Thanks again!!!

Default Same Vendor?

Aren't both these items being sold by the same vendor?

- the ebay vendor is htgsupply

- High Tech Garden Supply ... is the same person?

*shrug* ... just an observation

You are right ! LOL! Good observation my friend!

madman, If you scrog your plants you will have plenty of light. I would suggest though that you get the 6400K lights for veg and in a month or so, when the plants are bigger get the bloom tubes. If you can afford both now then get them. You can also add lights if you find you need them down the road. I got most of my other flourescents from the Habitate for Humanity the Restore. A couple of bucks each and the price of the tubes. either T-8 which is a cheaper choise, or a t-12. sometimes you can even find t-5's. You might have to add a plug or something but a cheap choice if you need side light. Also consider cfl's.

Good luck!

Well, Jangel's a lot better looking than I am, but I think I can answer the Q if that's OK..

"SCROG" is a term meaning: "Screen of green. A method that utilizes fewer plants trained to grow along a screen to insure all budsites get equal light. Normally grown plants will generally devlop one or two main colas at the top of the plant, smaller buds on the sides, and 'popcorn*', or very small buds on the bottom."

This is from our very own GreenPassion MJ Dictionary

HTG Supply and High Tech are the same, the link I gave from HTG was because I shop their site rather than buy from eBay and make HTG pay eBay auction fees.

HIDHut is also an excellent source, and a supporter of the site here.
