plenty of drama in that thread and only sporadic information - so this one takes its time to read with more then 400 post in it! and i don't want to know how much heat is produced by 600W in small and mid sized CFLs...

I dont flower with CFL's, but I do sometimes veg with them. I briefly read some of the link supplied, and i cant see how harvesting 3 grams from a plant, is growing it to its full potential. I'd need ten plants to get an oz? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
That would be totally depressing to me.
Peace

if anyone gets a harvest of 3 grams and there wasn't a thief present i would doubt it had anything to do with the lighting at all. i would base that on the experience/faults of the grower. Hell ive got waaaay more than 3 grams on my one baby with only 6 23 watt'rs? thats gotta say something for cfl's IMO at least...

i thing this was just his ratio of bud to watt used to grow it - so something as 600W to end up with 1800g which wouldn't been such a bad outcome, but i don't buy the ratio since it was done under CFLs and in such a small cabinet... my veg box holds more space

no, the dude grows there some d*** nice SOG plants, but if you go back to my old T8 experiment from last year in the veg box you will notice that my results came pretty close to what he managed there with 4-6 the wattage used.

and his ideas to use the setting of the light cycle to also heat up a grow well don't ask me on that method, i would just take a small elect. heater and maybe a temp. regulation adapter to control it but never try to mess around with the cycle to heat a room

its sog. yea you may be growing more plants but you are getting about the same amount of yield compared to space I believe. Plus its hella cheap.

I dunno, I've found that my time is best spent in the vegging stage.
To me, this is most crucial, go to flower a week too soon and you'll loose alot at harvest time. I use to do 4 weeks, and that was okay.
Than I went to 5 weeks and it was much better.
Now I am looking at a 6 week veg cycle.

All I know is even with zero veg time, if I harvested 5 grams from a plant..................I'd be totally pissed off!
Peace

i have found excellent results with cfls. like almost any lightitng you want to pay attention to the lumens. a good 125 watt cfl pushes out around 1300 lumens if you buy the day light cfls. in my last grow i pretty much lined my walls with t8's and had cfls hanging from the ceiling two for each plant. with some of these cfls(not the daylight ones) you can basically put them in the plants giving light to all nooks and crannies which a hps or mh can not do with ruining your leaves and calaxes. I had absolutely no problems in flowering with cfls. i havent tried using 23w cfls the lumens just arnt great enough.

i have 26w cfls and they push out 1600 lumens each.you should switch to them seeing as how you would be using much less wattage and more lumens

Dr greendbuds used a two cab perpetual sog. His 3 grams per plant were all obtained using his cheesesaw clones which went straight to flower, in 20oz bottles, once rooted. i've read most of it, more than once, and it does seem possible. I'm sure most of you who've read his thread seen how he and another CFL grower were going toe to toe about who's the best or some dumb thing like that--they should smoke a bowl and forget about it. If it works, it works.
