Cool What is the best grow medium?

Ok, guys, maintenance in the apts i live in has kept me from my favorite hobby---going GREEN, lol---but we are closing in on a couple of different houses to move to, we just need to find the right one. So I am dusting off the old cfl's and tubs and gettin' reay, lol. I have one main question, what would be the best grow medium? I'm gonna be doing a DWC, but I dont think rock lets the girls get as strong as they could get, which effects overall size, thus overall yield. So, while I am getting some new stuff in preparation, what grow medium do you DWC'ers recommend? I want the fattest plants I can get, no pun intended......

I am also considering going with Greenlightnin' nutes and will do a journal on it when I get her up and running. With lots of pics.

I may be way off the mark here, but what could the medium have to do with the plants' growth? Unless, by using rock means more weight on the plants' tender base and roots. Not likely, as they grow quite big and bushy in some god awful stuff in nature. But, I would really like to know, too, if there is some "best" medium.

Well, I have heard that rock isnt real super strong for growth, and I am getting some POWERFUL airpumps for my DWC, so I want the firmest, "dont worry FATMAN, we got the stalk covered", grow medium, lol. Sorry Pappy, I guess I shouldve been clearer, but I am soooo stoooonnneeedddd right now. Yeaaa!!

for dwc, i say anything that will retain a decent amount of moisture, and alow air to the roots also. I say hydroton, i have used it and love it, or rockwool, I have heard and read many good things about. When it comes down to it, its all about what u like , can afford, and will be the least cleanup in the end. Hydroton, is kind of a chor to clean, but i like it the best

Hydroton is some good stuff man it is made of small random sized ceramic red balls they are reusable easy to wash /clean salts off ... cheap fill in the net pots well so no light gets through and the plants have a stable medium that wont smoother them my root system with these has been best out of any grow medium at least 2-2/15 foot root clusters ! and big stem too.

link too random site that sells it ... you can get it any hydro shop though.
