Hi norega,
There are variables involved, but in general;
Q1 Yes some seeds take a bit longer and I tend to keep only the quick ones JMO
Q2 No real need to light up, until they break the surface, but I start mine in a greenhouse where they get light all the time.
Q3 The plant should pop up in about 3/4 days no more than a week, in general.

1 yes
2 When they sprout,Put under lights
3 Theres a lot of variables here ,Temp,Germenation pracitices,How big the taproot and orientation when planted...Ect.3 days or so
you need a small fan for fresh air, cooling and to strenthen your plant.Your setup might get you thru veg .I have 12 veggin in that size box but I have to move some soon.
Good luck with your plant and if you need things ,just ask...someone here will help you.
This will help as well. Happy reading, Drugs-Forum - Cannabis cultivation: Overgrow's GrowFAQ

Greetings and welcome to GP Norega, Having the lights on before they break ground is perfectly OK. Heck the heat generated by your CFL will warm the soil and help with the ground breaking ceremony Luck and Life.

How long depends on how deep you buried them.
When I pop seeds, I let them sprout until the leaves are almost out of the husk and the tap root is well advanced. Then, I plant them with their feet underground and their heads in the sky. That way, you never wonder if they're gonna break the surface.

Yeah, sometimes I get lazy and they look like bean sprouts you get at the store!
It's a weed. It will grow in almost anything and it will cling to life when you are sure it's dead. People tend to treat cannabis like it's made of paper thin crystal.
Heh... it's just a weed.

For vegging, Use the higher Kelvin bulb, about 6400K. That would be a bright white or blue white CFL. For flowering, use the lower Kelvin bulb, about 2700K. This is the standard CFL found at Home Depot, unless labeled as bright or day light bulb. U got perlite for the soil right? It needs to be airy and perlite will help with that. Jangel says about 40% will do. No nutrients for the first week or 2. When you do start feeding do it slowly, 1/4 strength to start and increase slowly. 24 Hours of light is not uncommon for vegging, most go on an 18/6 schedule. Flowering is 12/12 hours of light. Anything else just hollar Luck and Life

My forte is hydroponics but let me offer you this, Go with a good Organic soil plant food for tomatoes or african violets, I've heard that orchid food is good, but definately go organic. These are for vegging, you'll have to change the nutrients to a high potassium low nitrogen plant food to facilitate flowering. Hopefully any one of our Soil Guru'z will add to this to help you further. Luck and Life in your grow.

Here's a great recipe bro, works for me.Just be very sparing with the blood meal and Bat Guano. You can use any soil you like. I look for local stuff without additives (nutes). a simple organic recipe that works well | | The Following User Says Thank You to pine boy For This Useful Post: | |

You might want to maintain 2"all the time .If you start to see the edges of the leaves gettin lighter ,its to hot.I have been vegging for a month with 3 cfl's around 6" away and its worked on my plant but I would stay within 2"

Soil acts as a buffer for your nutes, which allows you time to correct any mistakes you may have made in feeding.
Hydro on the other hand can whack out your crop with one mistake if your not careful.
As far as mess goes, it is way easier to work with soil than it is to dig into your hydro tank with a three foot plant in it.
Some hydro systems are easier to maintain then others are, but in very general terms, soil is best for a first timer.
