Rep Power: 17 | | P.J. Indica- possible Nute Lock? Hi All,
These ladies were born back in late July (28th)..They have been outdoors, under cfl, outdoors and now after nearly about 43 days they are resting underr 1 300watt CFLin my 3'X3'x 5' cardboard grow environment.
Temp has been anywhere from a high of 90 to a comfy 75 at night. I'd say an average of 80 or so..
I hadn't fed them anything except h2o from my aquarium for the first 20 days and then some tap for 2 weeks kinda by accident..
I started using some Alaskan Fish Emulsion (1 tblspn/gal) and Superthrive (1 tsp/gal) for the past 2 H2Oings..
My Fan leaves are kinda hard to touch and as you can see they have yellowing in some areas..I have all kinds of new growth that does not appear affected but I am worried that they are hungry...
a) Since I noticed the yellowing edges on my fan leaves and thereddish-purple tinge on my stems, I decided to stop with the emulsion and super-t and just go filtered H2O..
b)2 days ago I watered thoroughly and had mixed in a TBLSPN of Apple Cider Vinegar to a Gallon. From what I can see, they took it O.K...
I am planning on H2Oing tomorrow and trying to flush em a bit more.
Also, I have one of those PH Meters by Peters and Morse from Home Depot and it always seems to read 7-7.2...Plan on doing a runoff test when I water tomorrow ..
Any advice at this point. They look o.k. but I don't want to lose em if I could have done something about it..
P.S. - I read G.P. everyday for any information I can pick up. What a great source of reference material for newbies like myself...Plz help me and my 1st rearing....
Peace |

Your ph sounds kinda high, and a problem with the ph can cause nute lock up. Here are some links to threads that might be able to help you out. Plant Abuse Chart and Photos by Nietzsche All about PH
Hope that helps.

Go easy on the SuperThrive... a few drops per gallon is plenty. Too much will cause issues.
What kind of soil are you using?
I had problems until I switched to Fox Farm Ocean Forest. I swear by the stuff now!

If you start off seedlings in the FoxFarm Ocean Forest I've heard it can be slightly hot. Some people mix in a little Light Warrior and pearlite for seedlings if they're starting out with the Ocean forest, just to cool it down a bit. This is hearsay and I have no direct experience on this issue, just wanted to through out some information in case you run into problems.
Ask Michael if he started his seedling out in the Ocean Forest and if he had any issues doing so. Direct experience is better than hearsay any day.
