I have the Sun Blaze 4 foot 8 tube T5 unite. I like that it has two switches on the front that allows you to use either four or eight lights. I use the center bank of four with seedlings and then when they get a little bigger I hit the switch and give them all eight.

OK, that's my 2 cents

Peace,

Canna Bus

That is super Canna Bus. why don't you drop by the Introduce yourself thread and say hi! Personally I would love to here about your lighting system and see what you do with it. I have some t-5's and am interested in getting more. I love them.

Peace, and thanks for adding to our wisdom.

Chiefa,

While T-5's are super for vegging smaller plants (or taller ones when supplemented with add'l lamps lower in the plant), but for flowering it is hard to beat HID - HPS. There are some folks that grow some superb cannabis under T-5's for flowering, and several of those folks can be found in The CFL Club.

I veg under 8 of the 4' T-5's, and having vegged under HID (1000W MH and a 600W MH Conversion) in the past I have to say I am pleased with the T-5's performance. What you give up in lumens you make up in light balance across the garden. What I have is awesome for vegging plants up to about 12" in height, and then off to flower under the 600W HPS's.
JMHO, of course..

Wink Keeping it small and simple......

Chiefa,

What ISO2BWELL said is the best of both worlds. But if you want to keep it small and simple (like I do) and you're going with a Sog (like I will be)), then CFL all the way!

Peace,

Canna Bus

Default Fixture stiff enough?

Hey ISO,
I had a 4 bulb 4 foot Pioneer and I gotta tell ya, the fixture was so flexible that the bulbs just absolutely would not stay in the sockets! I ended up burning up one socket and the tube because the fixture would flex and the tube would become very loose, causing arching that took out the tube and the socket. I have 2 New Waves, 4 bulb 4 tube each and they are very good. You can hang the fixture at a 45 degree angle for side lighting and no problems. The New Waves may be a bit more expensive, however, they are definitely woth it!

The New Wave lights are definately the Cadillac of the T-5 fixtures, but the light output is the same, and these fixtures from HTG are solid...very well built (new design I am told).

I paid $129 ea. (4 lamp x 4') including the lamps.

I wish I could get them for that price here. It bites the big one. If i buy them here, for my 4 light new wave it was 235$. There a bigger set is 139. so okay I try to buy those, shipping will be close to 50 bucks, then duty. anothe 60 bucks, depending on the total, like for my vortex, it was 79 bucks just duty. 36 for shipping.

Never mind, I am just venting....

Hey ISO,

Let me know how those work out for you. That is definitely a good price if they are quality fixtures!
