Default New Member, with a question..

Hello all, i've been reading this great forum for a little while thinking about where i can grow. I have about 2'6" by 4' and about 6' height, i only want to grow two or three plants at a time. Do you think this will be ok?

The other thing is the light, do you think i could use a 250w high output cfl light with red and blue lamps for the whole grow? I like the lower heat levels of the cfl's as my location is already quite warm and i'd rather not have to spend big bucks on a fan and filter to try to lower the temp..

Thanks
Beano

I have indicated to another new member this thing, and it probably will help you too, on the left column of the home page you will find two links to FAQ, you will find there EVERYTHING about growing pot, and I really mean EVERYTHING! On the other hand, there are a lot of nice people in GP with years of experience who are more than happy to show you the way
Good luck!

Thanks, thing is i got a bit carried away last night night and ordered a 250w ho cfl light!!
Now i'm starting to question my choice.... I could still change the order but time is ticking and i'm worried i'm about to waste £130!

So if someone could reassure me or correct me it would be appreciated.

Thanks

For that amount of money ($200 plus) you can get a decent HID light, but hey there are several members who use CFLs (check JustAnotherBozo´s pictures in this thread http://www.greenpassion.org/f32/anyo...tribute-12053/, he only use CFLs), but of course you can get way much yield with HID
There are other members who can help you a little more
Good luck!

Hey my friend, you will be delighted with so much information that is there, read it and if you can not find what you are looking for, come back and knock on doors, read other people´s posts and ask, and ask, and ask again. You will learn by reading and asking, this is like college, lol
Good luck!

Welcome to GreenPassion! Glad you posted and said hi to us all. Many fine people here and please, if you need anything, just ask and we will help you out.

As far as your question, no matter what light you use, you will indeed still have heat you have to deal with. I am not familiar with this size of cfl. I have used the smaller twistie ones before, but not the large ones. Even so, you will need some type of air exhange happening, and until you set up the light and know what it will heat your cab to, you won't know what is needed. I would suggest at the very least you get a small can fan, and make sure you cut into the cab some way for cool air to enter it. You need to have fresh air for your plants, no matter what the temps are.

Also, there is an excellent article in the contest thread about ventelation and air exchange. Several posts actually, I will come back and post a link for you so you can find it. This will explain it clearly to you, so you can understand why you need this.

EDIT: The Knowledge Project Check this out for info on ventalation
