thats true they dont give of much heat at all which is a real bonus for growing with cfls.
i veg under cfl and love it the light itself can be close to the mother and not harm her while giving the right light. as an idea http://www.growroom.com.au/p181/fluro-130watt-kit
dude that would be sweet it would free up my 2nd thousand watt for strictly flowering...what do you think one 130w cfl per mother is sufficient? im going to be getting these asap i cant wait

GREAT looking grow Scott06!! Your plants look happy! I found though with cfl's the plants have to get used to them gradually if switching from one light source to cfl's. I scorched one of mine by putting it too close too fast. Lesson learned. I found with cfl's in a closet I had a lot of problems with heat stress and almost lost them. I switched to t-5's and they came back. Now my veg area has cfl's+ the t-5's and will add more, but I have to really watch or they get stressed. Not sure if it is a different type of cfl's or what. I have 2 fans on them, and it seems better now. Maybe just the adjustment.

Good luck and let us know how the smoke is~! I would love to try this type sometime!

Hey Jangel - thanks for checking out the grow...w/ the closet I would vent air (about 200 cfm) directly to the outside so heat would be no problem - I've never used the T-5's do you like them? How strong are they? I keep my occilating fan close to the CFL's that might be another reason I didn't have a problem with heat. The occilations are right over the canopy and under the lights.

The closet was just temporary 'til we got the grow room up and running, so I did not want to mess with cutting into walls etc. I corrected it by leaving the window open in the room (in mar. and feb definatly cold in Canada!) and the closet door but still didn't have a good enough vent for cfl's.

I love the t-5's and wish I could afford more or had gotten a larger fixture. Short internodal growth, good colour, they are cool and great light for the plants. Great side shoot development. Plants grow fast under them! I have the veg tubes in mine.(6500K) And they are so cool the plants can touch them no problemo! I find the cfl's give you flexibility and can be adjusted all the time, depending on how you have them hooked up. I have 2 cfl spots(on clamps) and I also have a cfl bar on the side at the back for side growth in the veg area. T-5's and the cfl bar is on chains so I can raised or lower at will. I have 2 occilating fans, hitting the lights and the plants, one from each side and it is fine now, that they are more used to them.

Keep up the good work and let us have a smoke report!

no growing going on at this time :( I have to design a closet that is small quiet with no smell, my wife wants me to keep the operation as small as possible and not continuous...the mazar grow should keep me in good shape for 4-6 months or more...plus I put six girls I started inside (top 44, thai stick, and snowberry) in six separate spots deep in the woods...I won't visit them until late september or early oct to keep it safe....security is a big concern or I would be develping stains and giving away the extra to peeps that need medicine
