Is it mould or is it calcium buildup? Quite often with your own water you get a white crust on the soil. Pics would help.
Peace

Did you cut more vent holes in there? Even if you have to leave the top open when lights are on to cool them, you will get the temps down. One other thing you can try is put a cold frozen bottle of water in there, in front of the fan, and keep several in the freezer. Then the air blowing over the cold water will cool the air. Just replace it once it melts and put in a frozen one. and don't give up!

I need to go out and get more 20oz bottles I guess for that neat little trick!! I never thought of that, thanks!!!! I will wait till lights come on to add the frozen water. I bet the girls will LOVE that!! Then I will take pics Stay tuned for more! |

Peace | I think its mold as it appears to be "furry or fuzzy" Ive been dunking them in the water to feed from bottom up and I have 10 drainage holes in the bottom of each one. I like to use my clip on fan to draw warm air out, but maybe with these bottles in there I could blow the fan at the plants? The PC fan in the side doesn't seem to do much for drying out the soil as its aimed from the side of the bottles, not over them pointing down. The other thing I was thinking was to lower the light a few inches to see if that would dry the soil out a little more. Oh well, this is truly an evolving project! I'm getting nervous cuz they seem to be doing way better than I would have thought as I've never really been a "gardener" before now. Sux not having much room to grow but we do the best with what we have. Update's soon!

Rep Power: 116 | | Moldy pics So I just took some pics of this mold. I use filtered water as our water here is sooo hard! I won't even drink it cuz you can smell all the crap in it. I put 2 water frozen water bottles in, boy do they melt fast lol Anyway, I'm thinking I should put another hole in there. I wonder if lowering the lights might help the surface of the soil. The cups were light and I water every other day. But the top soil was still damp so thats why I thought it was mold. If I'm wrong, please let me know lol Anyway, on with the pics... |

They look real healthy and happy. I don't think it's mold it looks like salt build up. Is it furry or just like sand on the surface? If it is grainy like sand it is just a mineral build up.
Sometimes in my veg/mother room under floro's I get my pearl lite turning green almost like moss I guess. As soon as they go under flower it goes away. |

I swear it looked furry yesterday and the top of the soil was wet but the rest was dry. They are on day 12 of 12/12 and I'm not seeing any signs so far other than what looks like new leaves coming out to make new branches? After reading this forum for 65+ hours now I know I saw pics of the diff somewhere on here but can't find it for the life of me. I'm worried I may have a light leak? I have a light trap on the back for the fan and lay a square of panda paper over the top when they are sleeping. Anyway, thanks for the words of motivation!! Back to the books, err forum!! |

Are you looking for pictures of a female plant to see what they look like?
Hang in there you will be fine.

I have had similiar mould grow on just mixed up soil, when it was wet. Soil has a lot of healthy micro organisms in it, that make it good for plants. And natural moulds and bacteria are just part of it all. You having mould on the soil like that tells me you do not have enough air movement in there and that the top is staying damp and warm too long. Get a small fan and have it blowing at the stems and soil of the plants. this will dry them faster and prevent this from happening. I do not think this mould it harmful at all to the plants as I just scooped some out of my soil and mixed the rest in, and they where all fine when I planted in the soil.
You can get real small cheap fans from wally world, and you can hang these from chains or from the little clamp they come with. They work a dream.
Peace

Rep Power: 116 | | So...I'm looking at the pic here and thinking...why don't mine look like this one? My leaves are way bigger than his are which is why I'm thinking I may run out of room here. Do I need to trim leaves or something? I can't see me getting these results at this time... |
