Default Have you used this type of fixure? Your thoughts?

Good evening!

I was wondering what everyone thought of this type of lighting fixture for the top of a DIY box?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=220226850413

I found this type of lighting adapter on e-bay and thought it actually could be a very ingenious as far as getting a lot of bulbs into a small space. They are very inexpensive (both online and at a hardware store) and effectively give you four bulbs per "socket".

The only other part you would need to pair with the above is this type of fitting so you can plug it in like a normal light should you choose to create your own shield (Mylar), and a hanging mechanism so you can easily raise and lower your lighting:

To light all four bulbs above, you would need just one of the above for less than a dollar. And, if you wanted to get additional lighting on the sides, you could do so fairly easily.

And, if you wanted to be super stealthy, you could even pick up a couple of these below and use them as needed where you don't wish to use extra side bulbs:

I thought the above plug-ins would be very useful for being able to plug any pumps, fans etc. from the inside of your DIY rather than having several cords coming from your unit.

Your thoughts?

Hey Mya, excellent post! Thanks for the taking the time to put that together for us. That should be a sticky for new comers trying to figure out how to go stealth.
Peace

well with a bit fixed wiring in the unit you only have to run a single cable to the unit but that would add some building as well as maybe a buck more - but then it is done right and not makeshift, as makeshift normally burns in the end...

and yeah, this y-splitter are handy, but also only rated to 100W max! so watch out here too, 100W add up fast!

well 10000 lum maybe... but someone could overdo it with those easily, first it was just 3 25W CFLs and a 20W fan, then the fan switched into a power strip and then a little fire... that been my point.

I went with this setup for my stealth grow, but before this I wanted to use the Y shaped light setup on this post but just couldnt find it. Maybe for another project. And I can see why people could over do it with a too many Y's connected to one socket, not a cool thing

put fire to your harvest after harvest, not before is the rule LOL

I appreciate all the comments and thanks. Being relatively new, I've been thinking about the logistics, and yes, safety comes first.

I posted tentative DIY plans here:

http://www.greenpassion.org/f39/wardrobe-boxes-diy-stealth-i-want-your-opinion-5095/

If you have a chance, I'd really like to hear your thoughts on it. Safety first. I don't want to burn down the house.
