Does color really matter?

Ok heres my two cents on lighting.First grow was soil under 4 foot shop lights.It was a slow grow and 3 to 4 oz at harvest from 3 plants.The tubes were blue and red mixed.I upgraded to hid 400watts.The pixs are in the cabs off and running,I started the 4 plants under cfl till they were 6 to 8 inches tall then into the cab with 400 watts MH for 4 weeks.They got big and I flowered them under 400watts HPS.Both blubs are from plantlightinghydroponiocs.com and they are the cheap ones about $10.00 each.The 3 cfl's are 65 watts each and from wal-mart.I belive that veg them under the MH is the best and flowering them under HPS will give you more bud and bigger buds too.I say this not only that's what I did in the cab,But I did the same with one plant in the closet in dwc and it's a hog.The cab I harvested 1 and half pounds and the closet The top half of the plant matured first and I harvest it and got 5 oz so far from her.The bottom half is still got a ton of bud getting mature.This is my thoughts on it, IF IT WORKS DONT FIX IT.Cfl's for clones and seeds, Mh veg and then HPS to flower.To me playing around with the light is like breathing from a o2 tank and somebody is standing on the air line.Three things a plant needs is LIGHT,AIR,WATER and it will grow.Tweaking all three to the best of its out put and you got a great harvest.Theres more to it,but MH for veg and HPS for flower and you are set. An observation on lights
I am using a 400wt hps and 4 42 wt CFL's for side lighting. The plants are starting to show sugar frosting. The buds close to the CFL's showed sugar first and more heavily than the buds under "sweet spot" of the HPS

Hey Lizard, This my theory on that,The 400 watt only go's so deep and the fill in light are cfls and closer to the bud sites without the heat.the plant up takes nutr from the bottom and up to the top where more ligth is be used.Now the side lights add more photosynthesis and the bud site are closer to the bottom and get the nutr first and now they have more work to do make more buds. Just my theory.PEACE
