do CFLs work? HOW STEALTHY?????

hello,
i posted a few questions regarding a late outdoor sprout on the newbie forum.
The plant in question is currently outside, receiving full sun. but fall is approaching. I was thinking of bringing it inside, leaving it in my window, and maybe getting a CFL for it as well? just to let her grow alittle more before flower.

or should i construct a stealthy little grow box with some CFLs? how small can i go, space/volume wise?? I have read a number of great ideas for grow boxes from this great site!!!

How safe/stealthy is it to grow this way? how would one get caught doing this? and does anyone know of a person who has been caught/busted growing this way? how do people get caught in the first place?

any ideas or comments would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!

CFL's are great, I have a little Veg Box made out of an old dresser. Works wonders!!
Check out my journal there is pics in there of it.
the only people I know who have gotten busted was cuz they got in to a fight with their wifes and the cops got involved.

Hey gnob,
i just started out with my first DWC kit and im using cfls so far so good the lights seem to have a great lumen production and come in a variety of kelvins (red&blue spectrum)
and the good part is they are a big part of not getting busted because you are not using a light that will make a suspicious jump in your power bill (150w,stnd = 46w,cfl)and another biggie they do not produce a large heat level so like the wise shaman said keep it close with those whom know and you should be just fine, and as far as room well i grow in a small closet and don't use all the space ! just keep ventilation in mind! good luck man.

AND I have burned a 85 watt bulb for three solid months non-stop, 24/7 and could still hold it in my hand, still lite up, without betting burned. They get warm, but NOT HOT!

awesome, thanks for the replies.....
i was thinking of trying a "computer tower grow box," or the "ruber maid grow box." i like how they are very small. which of these do you all recomend??? or is there any other ideas out there that are better?
i was also thinking of just leaving it in my window, and also have a single cfl on it during the day...
my only concern is being busted.....
any ideas??!!!

window might not be a good idea, unless it doesn't face a neighbor or street. The pc tower could be a good idea, if you are going to need to get one, here's a link for a nice tall one.

strange...........
I have no idea, but ask anyone else here that uses CFLs, I can burn one for three months straight, and hold it in my hand, still lite up and burning,
but not too hot to hold.
It is on a cord less than 6 ft long?

yep i have to add my appreciation to the humble cfl also. ide like to shake the hand of the person who invented them.
