I am on my second grow with clones.
I have 6 42 w cfls
and 4 15w 21" grow lights.

I know more light will just make my op so much better.
I just have been out of work so long.

I hope to get a 400w hps for flowering here in the next couple of months. (hope=pretty damn sure)

I think the cfl's are great for veg. You just need to optimize the light.
Good reflectors and good reflection from surroundings increase the lights effectiveness.
I recomend mylar.

I certainly agree with The Roseman.
Cfl's are great for newbs.

IF you can do it with them then when you can get better lights things can only get better.

There's nothing wrong with cfls', there's nothing wrong with hids' and there's nothing wrong with the sun. All are capable of providing the correct wavelengths and the correct amounts (pressure) of the light needed by the plant. All of the choices should be looked at as different tools to be used for the situation at hand. Have used all of them and they are all good, just a matter of trial-n-error to fine tune for the desired results.

i plan on using 1 400w hps. and 3 100 to 150w cfls. for a small grow of six females. i think it will give plenty of light in a small space without killing an injured mans pocketbook.before kicking a man when he's down rember not all of us are bill gates. over time a person can build up to a better setup. (IT IS BETTER TO WALK WITH A CANE THAN SIT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND BEG.)

farmerlion sonds like and ideal set up for lighting to me 1 400w main light and cfls to help get light to lower areas ... probably get some nice full plants that way.

The only problem with the 105W CFL's is that it's just closer to HID. I have 30W CFL's, and three of them give out the same number of Lumens for 15 less watts as the 105 tube CFL at stealthhydro. Plus, I can get better coverage since I can move mine. The best part of the 105's is just the fact that there is less hassle with making sure they are all wired.

In short, CFL's don't get more efficient as they get larger.

First of all this is the CFL Club, we're not talking about HIDs.

We're here to learn and grow;) We're here to learn how to get the most from our CFLs, find out about the technology available to us and in general see what other creative minds are up to.

I grow start to finish with my CFLs.

I grow in a 2 x 4 x 6 space with a 432 watt Sun Blaze fixture that is four ft. long with eight tubes (4 warm and four cool). I grow in soil (Ocean Forest). One of the most important things is I keep my lights 4 to 6 inches from the tops.

My girls are very healthy, beautiful AND bountiful

Peace,

Canna Bus

i think with the right placement and wattage one sum as myself would love CFLs cheap, there everywhere, and noone supects you of doing anything other than buying new light bulbs for your home. i use them with very good sucess, one thing i have learned and everyone here knows it is that the more the marryer and the closer the better.... i like them, dosent mean i wouldnt trade all 30 of my cfls for 1 nice hid or mh buld
