Default A cfl expert

Who here, considers themselves knowledgeable in cfl's?

The proper temps for vegging and flowering, like 6100k or 2500k,
The difference between warm and cool.

Has several harvests using them.

125 watt cfls depending on the brand usualy dont need aything to go into a regualar outlet. Those with mogul bases just need the mogul to standard adapter .Most are self ballast but some older ones may need a abllast hood butthey are rare.

5K - 7K Kelvin: Strong Blue Light or Blue Spectrum, called COOL light
Promotes bushy growth. Ideal for rapid growth phase of plants.
2.7K - 2700 Kelvin: Strong Red Spectrum, called a COOL WARM light, but produces a red spectrum,
Used for propagation, blooming, supplemental
greenhouse lighting.

I am looking for one mod to moderate the cfl threads exclusively.

In the future we'll be looking for more "specialized" mods too.

I could do it but I have NO experience with any lights except CFLs. I do have some pics, figures, and files about CFLs and growing, but again, I don;t know anything about HID from experience. I did do a nice newsletter for SH about lights in general, but I slanted it toward CFLs.

cfl's compared to tubes??? anyone have opinions? I saw on ebay a t5 configuration for lights just under 48 inches. they were boasting that it rivals easily against any hid light configuration. and for 130 something dollars it should... I'm using 5 100 watt equiv. cfls for my grow, I have only one plant, and she seems really really happy.

Hey lightmyfire, how you doing buddy? My first time seeing you here, I hope you find yourself comfortable here.

I'd love to engage in this conversation with you, this is purely my opinion though.
T-5's are very good as are CFL's very good alternatives to HID lighting, for the home brewer.

There is no way these "alternatives" will rival HID lighting though it's just not going to happen. HID lighting will produce more, and better quality buds. I have used both.

This is not to say there is anything wrong with using an alternative lighting source, such as cfl's or T-5's. Both are very good in vegging, but they start to loose the argument, when in flowering.

If it were me, and I was set on using CFL's or T-5's, I would want to go with hydro, rather than soil, to help offset the low light, lower yeilding alternative, that I choose.

I hope his helps shed some light on this for you.
