Height-21 Inches
Width- 14 inches
Length- 18.4 inches
Tip of fully raised bulb to soil- 8-10 inches.
Think it's possible?
But now I know I would have been better to just pay $30 for a 40 gallon rubbermaid container.I'm not going back now...
If everything works then I may build another one later with more ideal dimensions...
My entire box is only 3.4 cubic feet. (now you see why I like the idea of lowryders)
The tips of the lights at maximum height are less than a foot from the soil.
2 8in square pots(Will upgrade to something like an aluminum pan several inches deep to get the maximum grow space... Or just layer some gravel/vermiculite in the bottom of the grow-box. Put a hole in the side for drainage- I like the hempy method.)
Either will probably give me a few more enticing inches.
In case of an emergency, I can always buy another box. It should simply snap into the middle, and add approx. 10 inches.
my 23W bulbs all output about 1400 lumens each.Should I run 3 bulbs (4200 lumens) or can I get by with less?
(I lined the inside of the box with white foam-board to protect it from fast temperature changes and reflect light. I also have an aluminum reflector that I made anchored to the roof.)
I'm in the process of building a carbon filter, and I wanted to get the lights approved by someone experienced.
They're the right spectrum, I just don't remember what they are. I have two bluish and 1 reddish. Are those proportions about right?Or should I use more lower-watt bulbs so I can get the ratio of the color spectrum right? Are lumens or spectrum more important?
Right now I'm growing plants (vegetables & herbs in my box)
The plants are all a healthy shade of green and I can smell the basil pretty strong when I open the lid. Of course, they're only a week or so old...
I think I can crush some of the chives and basil when its time to test my carbon filter, since they both have a really strong odor
