OK, this question may have been answered somewhere on the forum but, I couldn't find it.
What do you folks think of plucking a few of the lower popcorn buds and drying them out?
I'm about 4-6 weeks away [12 week Sativa] from harvest but, I've been out of smoke for a very long time. The only thing I've had to smoke is that Hermie I killed recently. I've been smoking it in my vaporizer and while I can feel a bit of an effect, it's not really worth the effort.
Do you think it would hurt my harvest by sneaking a few of the lower buds?
Would they contain enough THC to warrant doing so?

Hi Richard,
I did it and I enjoyed the high, and my plants are 6 weeks in flowering (my strain is 8-9 weeks). Probably some growers will be against it but why buying (with all the implied risks) if you have it home

Yeah, I'm stuck in a small town where I don't know anyone so, even buying a little is out of my reach.
I usually have someone bring me some from down state but, they haven't been able to visit in quite some time. [400 miles one-way]

Now, should I place them inside some paper towel and put in the oven on low (150 degrees) ?
I'll be consuming them in my vaporizer. Right now they are quite airy as they haven't begun packing on weight yet.

I dried it in the MW, five seconds on and 10 seconds off (and repeated it until the weed was smokable), I wrapped it in papertowel (to be honest with you it was a little hash for my throat but it was better than nothing)

IMHO, you should remove the lower, thin stemmed branches. By doing so, the plant will concentrate its energy into flower production.

I believe that cutting off a bud half way thru flower will affect your yield.. you'll be 1 or two buds short! HAHAH!! Kidding Richard..

Hell yes.. 12 week strain, 6 weeks.. I wouldn't expect much 'effect' but you have nothing to loose..
maybe take those couple buds and make some butter..
(throw in any waste you might have laying around.. stems, leaves.. everything xtra.. small amount of butter.. put it on toast/bagel,etc..
Effects of eating it lasts much longer too, IMO.

Yes, MW...paper towel.. 10 sec...yadda.. like 4ever said.. works.

I have about 4 weeks to go myself. :( I feel your pain.

You can do it if you want to, but with that much time left it is probably better if you leave them. (That way you don't end up in this position again.) I say take the time to reflect on it and how to avoid it.

Pop it in the MW 10sec on 60 sec off .. try it with just alittle to find out how good it is.. dont go crazy with it .. you still have 4-6 weeks .. so you might want to get a bag the little bit you MW wont last long

Man I always take a test bud to see what I have. So go for it. Meds. are meds. where they are 6 weeks or 12 weeks.

I guess I should add, if you need meds badly, pick what you need. I did that for sure, and I would have suffered greatly had I not. But, then again, I have 6 - 9 week strains.

I thought Mazar-i-Sharif was 6 - 8 weeks? When did you start growing that? *puff puff* ... I'm too lazy to look.

No, the Mazar is only a week old. This is 'something' x Skunk #1
I received two different strains in one package.
One was White Widow x Skunk1 and the other was Master Kush x Skunk1.
This plant doesn't look white at this point so I figure it's the other strain.
Both are suppose to go 10-12 weeks.
I am happy to announce that I did pick some small buds and cut most of the tiny thin sucker branches off.
I saved all the tiny sativa looking leaves to dry and pitched the big sugar leaves.
I dried the small buds and after about 6-8 puffs from the vaporizer, I forgot about the pain for a while. Nothing overpowering but, it felt good for a little while.

Actually got me a bit creative and so, I put together a slideshow to send via e-mail to an old friend.

Hey Richard,
My Afghan Haze went 11 weeks to full on maturity and i'll be damned if I passed on trimming those lower coated popcorn nugs for water cure smoke. Some say it would allow more energy to be transfered up into the colas and larger upper buds and it is good for ventilation throught the lower canopy. My immediate thoughts on messing with these tender Sativa Ladies is to leave them be and let them do their thing naturally and for however long they desire. It will pay off greatly in the long run but sure on the other hand I am guilty of wanting to get burnt too. Human nature pal we want what we want and we want it yesterday. With my Sativas and this is ONLY me I find patience to be my very best asset. I guess it also depends on how much you have going as well. If I would have had three or four of these babies I would have trimmed the heck outta the bottom of one to experiment with it. I will you can bet that. LOL
