If you have the overgrow site there is at least one reciepe for hash using stems and stuff. It is supposed to be okay but I have never tried it personally. Give it a shot and let us know how it turns out. You may discover a new use for stems. Just do a search for overgrow if you don't have the site and you should find it.

I looked out of curiousity, Shaman..but have never seen such a thing done/isn't something I'm familair with. I hope it works..cus the stems are the only thing I don't process into "somethin' else" and have to toss...

yes bro, you can use anything on the cannabis plant to make a quick wash ISO method. Take all you have, I would suggest more than just 4g though, and put it into a glass jar with lid. When the jar is just about full (leave a little space at the top, but not much) fill jar with Iso, then shake vigorously for 60 seconds (no longer!), after this pour through a permanent coffee filter into a large sturdy paper coffee filter into a pyrex baking pan (like a 12"X10" or something). Turn on ELECTRIC range (the kind you plug into the wall, do not use your kitchen) in a room with very good airflow, but not fans directly on the fumes. (you should do this before you get started with the iso in another room)Take a pot of water with like 2q of water and boil it. Place Pyrex pan on top of boiling water pot. Let the iso melt away, stick the leftover in the fridge for like 20 min, then take out and scrape up your honey oil. Sprinkle all the kif you have laying around all over the oil, then mash up into GuppyGoo....then smoke and fall in love.

well most parts contain some THC, only seeds and roots don't. but in the stems there is only 1-3%, in leaves 1-6% and in buds 1-20% THC, so really the most you get from buds and leaves, especially from those trimmings that are totally iced.

Ok, I made it like this(sorry i don't have a cam 4 pics) :
I ground the stems to a fine powder. I had it stored in a baby food jar, so I ended up using 2 of these. After the stems were ground, i did it by hand and it took about 1 1/2 hours to do, then i put the powder on a tray, and seperated
the pieces that wouldn't grind from the powder by using a razor and flipping it up, letting the big pieces roll down the tray(like separating seeds old school).
I put all of that in the first baby jar to let it dry out some more.
I put half the fine powder in the other jar and put it up.
Then i took a cellophane off a pk of cigs(not mine, i dont smoke that shit) and put the powder in it and folded it up into a rectangle tightly and wrapped it in a piece of notebook paper. I turned the oven on 450 and let it preheat for a good 15 minutes.
I held the paper packet with the powder under the faucet and let it get real wet. I put it on a stoneware plate, popped it in the oven for 8 minutes, took it ou, and rolled and pressed it with a ragu jar, then repeated this process 10 good times. When I was done, the last time, I let it cool off in the fridge for about 20 minutes then i took it out and peeled it apart. I had to kind of cut the cellophane off, but it was hard, but flexible. It smelled like weed, but it had a different, kind of woodsy smell, not heavy, I mean it smelled more like weed than anything. Ever got a bag of weed that smelled like a farm? Like that. I broke a piece off and put it in the pipe and smoked it. It had a taste like it smelled. It wasn't unbearable, it was kind of a 5 on the smooth scale.
It had a nice, real mellow buzz to it. It wont get you stoned, but if you wanted to kind of relax, like by a fire on a winter night, and not be stoned just real real mellow buzz its got that feel. Like taking a couple of Valium if you didn't get sleepy or groggy. I liked it. No stone but mellow. Pretty cool. My hand would probably disagree! LOL!

Fatman, my friend, you're a little confused on what HASH is. You got a little more reading and studying to do. I think barely no one responded because they were too polite to tell you that you are way off base. I think they misunderstod your question, that you can get HASH from all parts.
But those parts do not make HASH.
I'm going to tell you what I know from memory, instead of copying and pasting info.

Hash is what you make from 100% trichomes, also called the kief, or the what some call the crystals off of the pot. HASH is a compressed dried, hard cake or brick or clump of these trichomes. When buds start maturing, you see them, the trichomes, all over the plant, especially on the buds or female flowers and on the small leaves near the buds and flowers. Outside America, people call them resin glands.
They appear like minature crystals to the naked eye, They sort of look like salt crystals, but much smaller. Under a weak magnifying microscope (30X to 60 X) or a very strong magnifying glass, they look like litle minature tubes, or stalks. (again google will show you pics). My wife says they look like little clear penises.
They first appear clear, then amber and then cloudy, but this can only be seen if magnified. To the naked eye, they sparkle. Under a microscope, they don't sparkle.
Expert growers determine when to harvest by observing the trichomes under a microscope.
I bet 99% of the expert growers here own a $9.99 RADIO SHACK battery lighted microscope just for the purpose of looking at the trichiomes.
These trichomes, or kief, (do a google on kief) are gathered many primative ways, varying from country to country. In America, we've devised a more scientific way and especially a more efficient way to gather them and make them into HASH. HASH is a compressed product or derivitive from the kief. You gather the kief, and then do the cellophane procedure you described above with the kief.
In some foreign countries, they beat the fresh dried stalks of plants over a very large frame strecthed with a silk woven cloth. The trichomes pass thru the silk cloth and are caught on a cottom cloth under that silk screen. In some countries they use the "hand rubbed" method of using both hands to rub the colas on the plants , in the fields, vigorously back and forth, allowing the sticky trichomes to stick to their hands. Then they squat down and rub their hands together over a spread out cotton cloth allowing the droppings to accumlate.
Either or anyway they gather them, then they do what you did , and pack or compress them into cakes or bricks.
If you use a very small micron screen, you get just the trichomes, and you get a blonde or gold HASH. (Blonde Lebonese is the ultimate to me) If you use a large micron screen, then micro-parts of the leaf also get in it and you get a dark green HASH, like Afgani Hash. In Mexico, they use window screen and get a low grade HASH that is not so good at all.

Here, in America, we use gravity. There is a DRY way and a WET or WATER or ICE WATER way to collect them. ICE WATER Extraction is best, IF you are in a hurry, in my opinion. You can make a spinner bucket to gather them. Place a small one gallon bucket in a 5 gallon bucket, with a crank handle and gears to spin the small bucket inside the big bucket. The small bucket has cut outs, or large holes, covered in silk screen, that you buy from the T Shirt silk scren painter. You put the pot in the small bucket, spin it around and gravity throws the pot against the sides and the trichomes pass thru the screen, into the larger bucket. This is a DRY method. OR you can use ice water in the buckets. FROZEN pot releases the trichomes easier, they are not as sticky. You fill the small bucket with ice water, with ice in it too, put in the pot, and stir it with your hand round and around. I have almost lost my hand doing this, it is SO VERY COLD. I've seen 50 different ways to do this, and without pics, it is hard to explain. But I think you can picture it.
I also saw a DIY 5 gallon bucket that was sideways, instead of sitting up and down. The bucket was over a tray. The bucket had many 4 by 4 inch holes cut out of the sides, the holes covered with silkscreen. You put a metal wire or pole thru the middle of the bucket, like a rotiserre. You turn or spin the bucket very fast by hand with a crank or you can motorize it with a electric ice cream maker. It spin and the trichomes pass thru, into the tray.
You can also buy silk screen and beat your buds against it in a frame. It is best to freeze the pot first. Frozen trichiomes are not as sticky and are released much easier.
I have a small box, about 4 by 7 inches in size, three inches thick. In the middle is a removable shelf of silk screen tray. Costs $26 on ebey. I lay a bud on the screen, in the box, and shake it. And everyday I roll a joint and replace the bud with tomorrow's bud. See pics below. AFTER about two months, I look in the bottom of my box under the screen, and find about a half a gram of kief! TA DA, then I use your cellophane method to make me some HASH. You can just add the kief to a joint, but then you miss the certain high that only HASH gives. If you just smoke the kief in a pipe, it burns too fast. So you make a dried cake of it, called HASH.

The 2nd pic shows the box opened, and you see a piece of a bud laying there. You also see the tray partially pulled out, and that tray catches the kief when it falls thru the screen.
Every joint smoker ought to have a kief box. Especially if you know the joy of smoking HASH.

I am no expert and I am telling you this information from memory and personal research and from experience. I am not as afraid to post this here as I would at some other sites where'd I'd be corrected and pounced on by "the experts".
EVERY GROWER needs that Radio shack microscope at harvest time.
Pot gets us high by giving us THC and something else called canabanol. There's a couple of other things in pot that gets us high, but that is the basic two. AGAIN an expert can tell you more or cut and paste it here.
Most of the good THC we desire is in the trichiomes. Smoking or ingesting cooked THC gives us a heady high. A high that is giggley. We laugh for no reason except we feel good when high from THC. The THC lowers our blood sugars.
A THC high makes us creative, and we get ideas, like I want to make a painting or do some art. I want to build a model car or model boat. I want to write a poem. I am going to finish that ironing or finish that chore or write a novel. I 'm going to learn to play the guitar.
The canabanol comes mostly from the resin or oily part of the pot. It gives us the body high. It relieves pain and it makes us lazy. It gives us the "couch lock" high, or the "glued to the sofa" high. It affects our muscles and lowers our blood pressure. It makes us NOT think or have thoughts. Or you think I am going to just sit here, or you think I 'm so stoned that I can't get up and go pee.
Two different distinct highs!
We normally smoke commercial grade pot, harvested cause it quit growing and gaining weight. It is a mix of buds and leaves. We don''t want to waste it, so we smoke it all, leaves and all. When it was harvested, the trichiomes had aged and turned dark brown, after absorbing the resin and canabanol. We get a mix of the two highs, the THC High and the Canabanol High.
When an EXPERT GROWER and educated knowledgable GROWER grows pot, he can seek and achieve different kinds of highs from his GROW by harvesting by the color of the trichome. This can be done by observing the trichomes under a cheap lighted microscope.
(this post might ought to be under HARVESTING but I am talking about HASH and trichomes to help Fatmancometh understand the HASH THC High.)

This is somewhat a debateable subject, but 90% of the Expert Growers will agree with me here.

OLD-TImers Harvest by the color of the pistals or stamens. Educated Growers go by the trichiomes. Again, it is arguable and debatable.
If you harvest the buds when the trichomes are all clear, I mean clear as glass so you see thru them, then you get a HEADY High from the pot. You can smoke a J and do saturday chores, or go do something creative.
About the 6th, to 7th or 8th week of FLOWERING, the trichomes start getting AMBER, or the color of beer. GROWERS tell the BUD LIGHT joke here. I want my trichomes the color of BUD LIGHT ! Then they get CLOUDY, and look like the color or semen. Then at the 8th to 9th to 10th week, they get darker and darker and get brown.
DARK trichomes give you that "Tied to the sofa, I can't get up off the sofa" high.
This varies according to strains, and Sativa or Indica.
