Rep Power: 2340 | | Tricks in using a Radio Microscope??? I just got one of Radio Shack's 60X -100X hand held microscopes with the light built-in. Question: are there any tricks in using this little jewel while viewing the plant?
I imagine that cutting off a small piece and examining it on a table would be best, but I'm just interested in checking stuff out on the plants.
So far, just as I get a view either my hand moves or the plant moves, losing focus. So far I've only been able to get like 1 second shots.
Thanks!! |

i normally clip off a small guard leaf and look at it on a steady surface. makes things much easier. either that or you can grip the stem underneath the bud with the same hand as the scope to keep them steadily together and focused. (You'd be holding the stem almost like a wine glass.)

Cut off a sugar leaf and take it to a table. Then place the scope over the leaf, closer to the back if it is like mine, and go from there. It might take you time to work out how to use it well, but it is a fast learning curve. It really does depend on how steady your hand is. I got used to it so I could use it in the field on outdoor plants without cutting off leaves. But practice with it and you will find it does work. Also, the batteries go fast as well. I also find mine gets so sticky from resin I have to wipe it down with iso alchol to clean it. LOL!

Rep Power: 2340 | | Thanks guys! Sounds like it'll be easier looking at it on a table. My hands aren't steady enough for the plant itself.
Question: are the "small guard leaf" & "sugar leaf" the small leaves coming out where the bud is developing? |

they may not look like it but soon into flower they get pretty darn packed with glands of the gods. the avatar pic under my name is actually a picture i took using the same scope you have and the camera on my cell phone. It's pretty simple to figure out. the thread is around here somewhere.

I took a small piece of the sugar leaf and I'm amazed at the amount of trichomes. They look so cool, almost alien like!! |

I tried taking a pic, but I was unable to. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
