Rep Power: 162 | | Put these in your curing jars for better pot
Put these in your curing jars for better pot Oxygen absorbers are made of a chemical compound, the active ingredient of which is a powdered iron oxide. Our absorbers are completely safe. While they are not edible, they are not toxic. No harmful gases are created and the oxygen does not remove the fresh smell and taste of the product. What Do Oxygen Absorbers Do? When used with proper packaging and sealing, the oxygen in the packaging is greatly reduced. Our absorbers bring the oxygen level down reliably to .01% or less | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to Lumix For This Useful Post:

Is that the same as "silica gel" the kind of thing you find in a pill bottle like vitamins sometime? I thought they were used to absorb liquid/moisture not oxygen?

Dry paks are not the same, but those are great for my camera gear | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to Lumix For This Useful Post:

Thanks Lumix at least I know the difference now. Where can you buy these O2 absorbers head shops or grow shops? I guess these would or could help prevent mold too?

Rep Power: 218 | | 100 CC Oxygen Absorber Packets
i found a link to some there. its like $18 (including shipping) for 1 package of them (which is 200 packets of 100cc). only thing i dont like is it says 'plan to use the packets within 6 months of purchase, since they become less effective over time'. also says to store packets not being used in a airtight mason jar to preserve. maybe we could air seal them then freeze in mason jars? that would stop any chemical breakdown right?
its not like i would need a whole lot of these, just a few every couple months per jar of harvest. still $18 for 200 of them isnt bad.

Iron oxide is rust... they are small bags of rust.
People are paying money for small bags of rust.
Gawd, I'm in the wrong business!!

Gawd, I'm in the wrong business!! | Amazing and thank you Michael.
Now on to business. I have a 1995 Ford Winstar just took her off the road and well no sense scrapping her she is covered in rust.
I figure each rusted door is worth over $2000 now. Of course I would work out deals for fellow GP'rs.
