Rep Power: 500 | | Mason Jar Curring
I finnally have enough of my own grow to let some of it sit in jars for a few months with out it all running out before the next harvest
What a difference...the mazar went from a strong pine ammonia smell (cat pee?) to a very complex boquet of floral and musk....very nice
worth the wait and yet another reason why a lack of patience gets in the way of the best smoke.

Is it really that noticeable? I'm thinking of splitting my grow 70/30. Smoking some after it's all dry, and curing the greater portion of it. I hope it really is the big difference everyone is making it out to be. I've never cured before but I figure, heck, why not:P

I dry in paper bags and cure in old blue Mason jars. The taste improves 100% if you cure it for at least a month. Well worth the wait if you have that long to wait. :-)

I understand in some european contries people wait as long as a year......makes sense if you compare with fine cigar tobacco curing which is a long process.
Is it that much better? Well with this crop of mazar is surely was...could be specific to certain strains to some degree though.....doing your own experiment is the only way to tell for sure.

yeah, i agree with you that some strains might benefit more than others
but i tend to think that all strains would benefit, to some degree, with a
good cure, at least a month.
lol, i know every strain i've ever grown was better if i was able to keep my
greedy little hands off it long enough! sadly, too often i was forced by my
circumstances to burn my bud before it's time.

u wouldnt even recongnize it | So you suggested an extended cure for the best smoke? I'd be willing to try doing that if enough people concur that it would make a significant difference. :-) I want only the best. :-) What would be the process for that? Do you open the jars still? How often? For how long? Storing conditions? Spill it! You opened this can of worms. hehe

pretty standard methods
keep it in jars after the intitial dry in bags
open the jars for as little as a few minutes to as long as and hour a day for a few weeks or a month
then less frequently, then not at all
cool dry dark storage is best......
there are lots of variation on this but this is the basic method
everyone does it a bit different..I just rarely have enough (patience or mj) to do it.
yes it is necessary to cure not just dry if you want the very very best budz like at the contests.

its easy
i dry them completely and then 3/4 full into mason jars
first week open few times a day (once is necessary......more is good though)
second week once a day (its up to you really and your memory)
and then after that just when u remember
dont overfill and dont close if still wet
store in cool dry place with zero light
the bud really changes a bunch but in reality unless ur growing a ton just for personal use most dont have the chance to cure that long......at least not me lol

Mason jars are wonderful, the difference is night and day in the rewards of 40 days or more of a cool dark cure in glass. |

Normally I don't have enough to cure like that either but I think I will be able to put a few buds aside to try this. Would be wonderful to have something like that put away for special occasions or when you just feel like spoiling yourself. :-) I'm gonna try this. :-)

Rep Power: 0 | | Curing is the only way to fly. Like it has already been said a month can make allll the difference in aroma and taste. mmmmmm yummy.LOL Split your harvest up in 2 different scenarios. Hangdry a small amount and cure the rest in Mason Jars. Sure after 10-14 days of hang drying youll get plenty medicated but it wont tatse, smell or smoke like the jar cured ones that have set for a month. Try it you'll see how nice it is. | | The Following User Says Thank You to medicinecloset For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
