Yum...the stuff will spoil ya, huh?

About the only color ya don't wanna see in yer kif/hash is green. I've seen the trichs be nice and blonde (Skunk#1, NL#5) or be very dark/purple/etc. (Blueberry, Sour diesel IBL, Bubba Kush). It's very cool to see the differences between the strains!

I tried the rolling pin and it worked OK...but soon moved out to the garage and used the vice...squishing the trichs between two pieces of metal. You can really get a hard press with this sucka...

you gave a great explanation for everyone about the diff between black & blonde. I love that book... those center/color pictures make me drool!

Hey, I wish I had a vice! Lots easier than rolling by hand. I thought about putting it between two boards and running over them with my car, but haven't tried that yet. haha!

Notice in your picture that the center of the slab is darker than the outside. This is because of uneven distribution of pressure. With a rolling pin I can apply equal pressure by tilting the in or rotating the slab. Once I had a slab turn out very thin, so I folded it over, reheated it and pressed it again. It turned out wonderfull!

Nothing better than some nice fresh chemical free handpressed hash, tastes like heaven!

I didn't get that slab very warm before I pressed it and I think that's why it didn't get dark all over. Other presses have resulted in a red/blackish goo...which is very nice.
To me it's like bubblehash..if it is pliable..it is correctly done. If it breaks or crumbles, it's still good but lacks the last little bit of transition to make it the real gig.

either way..cough..hack..cough...it's um..FUN stuff!

never do your extractions indoors when dealing with combustibles, take it outside where there is good airflow. butane is heavier than air and will pool in places like sinks, etc. another suggestion is to have a completly static free environment when you do an extraction seeing as a simple spark could mean catastrophic results. a good way to prevent static sparking is to be properly grounded when you are doing your extractions. you can achieve this by wrapping some bare wire around your ankle and staking it to the ground with a nail. or you can use a static bracelet from the computer dept and stake it to the ground. this method is standard procedure in refineries and in explosve environments to safely eliminate the risk of accidental explosion.

the simplest of things can blow you up, the motor of a fan, the compressor on the back of the fridge, a lightswitch with a bad conection etc, etc.

so when you do a solvent extraction, please be safe and ask lots of questions.
