| I know harvest is nearing for my ladies but, I would like to harvest some a little earlier for a head high and then also some a little later so when Iwant to get couch-locked I have that too. Thursday will bring me to the 7th week of flowering and I have just started flushing. Also some plants are more mature then others wiht about 85-90 percent of the hairs amber(trichs still clear) and some plants all the hairs are still white . Is there any connection between the color of the hairs and when I should start looking for the cloudy trichs to achieve peak ripness? ONE more for you guys, to get the couch lock high I need to let them go through the cloudy phase and then turn amber?--Thanks in advance | ||||||||

| right .. this is how i do it... lets start with just ripe... JUST RIPE: about 75%-80% of the hairs turned red plus some trichomes are amber. shes ready to be pulled; COUCH SURFING: about 1-2 weeks after the above depending on strain, sativas take longer. most trichomes are amber. HEAD HIGH: about 1-2 weeks before just ripe, the buds are full but not quite ripe as 90-100% of the hairs are still white, the cristals are all clear. thats my position at least. other ppl may differ... if you look to the left at my avatar..thats ILESO at just ripe..some of the crystals were amber and already it would suck you through the couch into some other dimension ob absolute lethargy.. if id given it that extra week it could have been classified as a general anesthetic.. so it also depends on strain.. as to total head rush and idiotic laughter fits, i got that from growing tips just 1 week into flower/ or just before that. im not sure cause it was dark... ( i was being naughty)... i dried it, it was basically just leaf, it tasted like chlorophil(?) was harsh as hell for bong smoke... but boy did it hit us... i remember my eyelids felt like dry newspaper... and on the way home i missed about 5 buses while at the bus stop... id see the bus come, register the bus in my head as mine, then only remember it again after it started moving again...hehehhee... then id have a fit of giggles..heheheh ...people would edge away from me ...heheheheh it was like my first high again...and by this time i was a SEASONED smoker... peace ileso i also love fishing, but im no liar...hehhhe Last edited by ileso; 08-11-2008 at 08:43 PM. | ||||||||

| re: Mmmm, in theory, everything stated by you and ileso seem to be well repeated facts, though my experience with my favorite strain it is somewhat less predictable. I consider 'reading' the number of dried pistils <hairs> in relation to the state of trichomes, less than reliable, and only used as a measure of when to start paying close attention to the progress of your plants. I've tried the early/late harvest thing, and with my strain, really only notice a taste difference, not the psychoactive results. Of course, Cinderella99 is famous for a trippy soaring high, and doesnt disappoint. I've never experienced the 'couchlock' affect from her unless it's from a tincture from her flowers. Of course, other strains will differ a great deal. I'll post photos where you can clearly see all the pistils well dried, yet the trichomes have just now become cloudy. As well as a magnifier, I'll use the macro setting on my camera to photograph different flowering segments. With very high resolution photos, they can be digitally magnified for examination...B

| Nice pics, Brussels! Looks like Jack Frost was nippin' at 'em with all those white trichs! I usually let my girls get pretty mature as the couch lock helps me sleep despite mild to "teeth gritting" pain in spine. I do occaisionally do an early harvest, which makes me feel as if I have a rocket up my arse, what with zipping all over the place! Later, 4kaan4

generaly when i harvest, the whole crop goes at the same time, i dont like to have to return to harvest latecomers, some plants WILL be more mature than others. but by my general rules i know that with my strains if Most of them are in the JUST RIPE stage some will be over that mark and others will be under that mark, so ill have varied highs. i do look at the trichome though, and seperate the diferent plants depending on trichome maturity... but as i said weather is important (or was) for me. indoor you can be alot more exact with this. of course this is just my way of going about it. peace ive gotta try that c99, it looks delicious ps. if you go see my albums i think theres a pic of my buds ant their amber trichome.. heheh | |||||||||

| I have found that the couch-like head hight continuum can be influenced by temperature on a vaporizer...if I vap at low temps 350 365F it seems to be more energetic and giggle...at higher temps 375 393F it seems more couch-lok...of course this may be a matter of being more stoned from more cannabinoids at high temps...but the effect seems quite noticable and it seems more a difference in quality of the high rather than being just "more high" | ||||||||

| I was always taught that for a heady high, you wanted mostly cloudy trichomes, and for a mostly body high, you wanted more amber trichomes. Mostly clear meant not ripe. I've always gotten headaches from smoking unripe bud that had mostly clear trichomes. | ||||||||
