got cloudy trich's...OK to start flushing?

hey whats up guys, ive got 2 beautiful Northern Lights plants that are 52 days into flowering....I went out and bought a mini lighted microscope from radioshack to see whats up with the trichs, and it looks like most of them are cloudy, its really hard though to look through the thing because the slightest movement messes you up, and im tryin not to smush the bud too.....anyways after hovering over her for awhile i saw some cloudy trichs,,, (i practiced with some hindu kush i bought from someone, and that definitely had clear trichs)

anyways is it cool to start flushing? will some trichs turn amber in a week when im about to harvest?

Best way to check trichs is to clip a small piece of a sugar leaf and carefully (don't squish it!) lay it on a benchtop so you can set the microscope right on top of it. then focus. I like to look it all over at 60X, then zoom to 100X for that deep look, and you can really tell the amber ones then, too. I've got poor balance and it's near impossible for me to stand that still and hold that scope close to the plant, but sitting down is fine.

Also, the HPS light can make clear trichs appear to be amber when the light is reflecting through. Try it like I do under your MH lamp or a incandescent and see if that is easier.

I would start flushing at that time anyway, and if you let the plant go longer than a few days just keep feeding water and she'll be fine. (at least mine have been..LOL)

Some people harvest when the trichs are cloudy. There is a school of thought that then they turn amber that the thc has already started to degrade. The first I heard of this was just a few months ago. It is a pretty wide held belief and well thought out.

Some strains have to be harvested before you see amber ATF is one. If you wait until amber it's too long and you have lost the best.

thanks guys, I've decided to wait until this Monday, after I'm through with working this weekend, to start flushing....
which would be day 55.... ill harvest after a week, at day 62.... . .. .

I feel like I should wait a little bit longer....since I've been waiting 3 months so far another week won't hurt ..ya know?

I flush for 2 weeks at 1/2 stranght nutes. Usally I dump the tank and fill with plain PH'ed water. after a flood cycle my tds reads about 500 with is good. You get more nutes out by flushing with week nutes then plain nutes. Thats what I understand anyway. My weed burns clean and has good taste.

Mogie is correct. IMO I like to see about 10 percent abmer and the rest cloudy.

It all depends on the high you are looking for.

Clear is more of a head high.
Cloudy to amber is "Time to sit down on the couch!"
