Up until now i have only agitated using a long handled wooden spoon and my preference a paint mixing bit on a power drill. I have however heard that washing machines can be used for agitation but obviously you want a new washer and one that you would only ever use for hash. For me that means a full $ize washer is out, so i was thinking of a mini washer such as the "Wonder Washer" WONDER WASHER - Taylor Gifts
Does anyone here have any experience with any type of automated extraction?

I have a 5 bag 5 gallon set of bags. I had also considered buying one of those zippered mesh bags designed to be filled with trim and thrown into the washer so you only need to run the drain from the washer through the bags while the waste stays contained in the washer but i have my concerns about doing it that way.
I'm thinking of just getting a wonder washer and filling it with trim, ice and water, then just let it run and once done pour it into the bags. Is there any particular model of mini washer you would reccomend?

not really just look for one that looks like it will hold up, with the letting it run out and through the bags it does make your bags last longer as there is less wear, but you do need to run the same trim through two or three times to get the most.

Yeah i figured but that seems better then the 2-3 runs i currently do with a drill and a bucket. I think i will be getting one around my next harvest. I'll probably skip the zippered bag as it seems like an unneeded added expense. Besides i just can't see a fine micron screen bag holding up to repeated washes.

I'm real firm about this. The secret to Bubble is the abrasive action between the ice and the trim. I don't see any washing machine being able to recreate the agitation of a paddle blade. Water is simply the means by which the Bubble is collected by straining. Someone is going to invent a production based maker soon, it's just a matter of time.
Thanks for the props Moon, I'm thinking this Bubble thing is really about doing it on the cheap. To me, the reason bubble tastes so dang good, is it's free. An expensive machine kinda defeats part of the purpose...

i actually just had sort of a diy idea and im not to sure if it would work maybe blot some like wooden spoons or paddles on the washers thrasher thing, not sure what its called but the thing in the middle that spins, and have that kind of simulate the paddle?

Maybe you can be the first like Young Einstein making secret beer with bubbles, charge the world forever
Simpsons did it.................... Bubble Bags
I wouldn't buy this overpriced thing but it certainly works as proof of concept for me. As for a production machine for commercial quantities, You can go right down to any appliance store and buy a new full size washer, Just run it and drain through the bags, Voila!
I agree that the abrasion is the critical process and i have used nearly the same setup as you seem to have there Zig but you and i seem to be shooting for different goals. Your methods seem to yield far more then mine but mine give me a tiny little bit of gummy pliable black and blonde pure heaven where as yours seem to get you massive balls of a greener grittier more contaminated hash. If i was making it for commercial purposes i would be tempted to go your route but for my own special headstash to share w/ friends i like my stuff.
The thing is our processes seem nearly identical, I suspect that your just a little rougher then i am and maybe you run it for longer then i do. Another advantage i see to using a machine would be that i can remove all the art from it and turn it to science. Using a machine it would be easier to woirk out a specific process for specific desired results, IE, 10 lbs of ice 3 gallons of water and 8oz of trim aggitated at a set speed in the washer for a specific amount of time should consistently give very similar results and would be easier to adjust a single variable at a time time dial things in perfectly. If you have never done it any other way then what you show inyour hash thread then try beating it for 1/2 the time next run and see if you don't preffer the results, You can always do a second and third run after that to be sure you get everything good out but from the looks of things your getting alot of broken leaf particles through there from beating it so much.
