Default Cursed MOLD

I harvested 14 quart jars of buds May 26th and June 3rd and I did everything perfect or so I thought I did. I dried them hanging upside down in a cardboard box til the stems snapped easily, 5 or 6 days, then put them in jars and opened the jars everyday during June, keeping the jars in darkness. About 3 or 4 weeks ago, when I was sharing some, I opened them ALL again, checked each one and they were all sweet smelling and perfectly cured to me.
I had swapped 2 jars of my popcorn fluff buds to my best friend for some wierd sativa that he bought, and he phoned me today and said one of his jars smelled moldy. I ran and checked all of mine and one of them, the fluffy popcorn buds did smell moldy to me too. It's about a half a ounce and I can not see any mold, and it feels cured dry to me, but the sweet smell is gone and it smells like a musky crawl space under an old wooden house. I am so thankful it's just one jar and I am airing out the other jars again for an hour in a dark room.
But I wonder what happened? I guess a wet juicy bud slipped by me.
Oh, well, I am going to see if mama has some brownie mix.........

any ideas?

It's happened to me before. When curing a good sized quanity it is easy for some to slip thru that is almost but not quit ready. Good thing it didn't effect it all.

but with water cured buds you have to act fast too or they gonna mold like nothing else there is! as soon you finished curing them they have to be dried as quick as possible and during curing the have to stay covered with water too! then it works great;)

and be sure to oil those buds.

water curing wont cure the mold problem because the spores are still there, but it does halt the process long enough for you to make a great oil.

and also know that the spores will travel into the oil as well, but i believe they will be dead. so its your call as to whether you want to smoke the oil. if you are a med patient and need the cleanest possible oil, then i would suggest scrapping it, but if you are just a regular joe, i say fly at it.

it all just comes down to whether it will be a health issue to you or not.
