cola question

how do i harvest just the top cola so i can leave the popcorn buds to continue growing?do i just cut the main stem off or do i have to clip where the branch meets the stem??

Just cut the whole cola off. The plant will just keep growing. I must of increased my harvest by about a third by doing that with all my plants, inside and out. Take a look at the the threads in my signature to see how it worked and how the buds grew after some where harvested. Start from the back, LOL! ......to save you time.

P.S. and keep giving the plant carbs too, it makes the buds sweet...molasses for soil and sweet for hydro.

Yep Yep Yep! Lop that center stalk where you want to. An easy way is with a pair of 8" wire cutters that are sorta new (still sharp and not all buggered up where you do the cutting).
This is the fun time! Exciting!

only problem is if you have those weird sativas that flower from the bottom up, like i do.. ive bottom stems halfway to maturity and the main cola/stem just has those single flowers on the internodes...

What I did Ileso, even outside, was check the trichomes with my maginfier each time, and only cut the buds when they where the right ripeness. I had no need to hurry, and the plants made more buds and kept on flowering. It taught me a lot.

thanks friends! i wasnt really sure so i figured i'd wait until i got an answer.so Jangel your saying if i cut the top off the lil popcorn buds they will grow noticeably bigger?? thats what im talkin about!! well im gonna chop it down and let the other buds grow. oh yeah, and i've been feeding her molasses in soil for a while now and i must say compared to a friend of mines plants(which he doesnt feed molasses)the buds are much thicker and more dense!! thanks again to all that replied!! ill post pics after i chop her top off!!keep in mind its my first successful grow!so the cola probably isnt as big as most of you pro growers have! :0) the only thing i'd do different is let her vegg a lil while longer!she somewhat short but well worth the effort!!

oh, one more question. if i do cut the cola off this way will i still be able to revegg her??

you can always reveg if theres anough green matter left over

Yes, they will grow bigger and fill out more cause they are getting more light. I also LST the plant so it opens it up more and the light gets to the buds lower down that way. Good luck and looking foreward to seeing your bud!


And Ileso is right, you can always reveg. Don't freak out though as sometimes the growth looks weird for a while, as the plant is going "WTF!". But it does straighten out in time.
