Green,

I agree with your suggested set up. It accomplishes a deeper chill and yet does not contaminate the product. Just like ISO suggested the "ice cream" approach.

Anything thing other than this approach seems to be too risky.

Having said that, I remember one of my favorite quotes:

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable man persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man. (George Bernard Shaw)

well, i would have put my bet on the man of reason as he figures his way around but i guess my approach is to reasonable to allow humor

Shaw was an interesting writer who pointed out things in an unusual way. My take on this quote is the unreasonable man is the sand in the ouster. He has a place in raising the questions, but I believe it is up to reasonable poeple to find the answers and make it work. As per your solution on this thread.

Watch Jorge Cervantes Hash making video on youtube where he makes bubblehash, he points out that you should use distilled water when you make hash because you don't want any salts or dissolved solids as they are contaminents to your hash. The whole reason the bubblehash system works is because oil is heavier than water and thc and cannabinoids are oil based so when put in water seperate, the ice only helps to support the crystals sinking to the bottom because once the resin heads freeze they sink. I bet if you make hash with salt water you'll have some salty ass hash, rather a peanut than salt on my hash.

Apparently you didn't read everything. Ice only helps the trichs become hard and fall off. They will sink no matter the temperature. Sodium chloride(table salt) also is 100% soluble in water, making a simple water wash able to remove any salts. Unless you have another chemical attatching itself to the salts they will not be pulled out of their dissolved state, so even regular water is ok.

You quote me as if to say what I just said is wrong, but you just agreed with my quote, apparently you didn't read right because the point of my quote was to say that you should "only use fresh water" and not use salt water because it will contaminate your hash. If you have some method of somehow using saltwater with bubblehash without contaminating your hash I'd like to see it, otherwise take this up with Jorge Cervantes at high times!

we want to use the salt to low the temp man, no extraction in salt water here, just to chill the outside of the bucket as if you make ice cream the old fashion way.

Then why not just surround your bucket with dry ice?

with just ice you get only to freezing point, with some salt added you get 20 degrees lower and dry ice isn't as cheap as a bag of crushed ice and some salt

you never made your own ice cream or did you?
