Rep Power: 17 | | Who owns an Ebb N Gro system?
Im thinking about buying two of these systems and making them both 48 sites. I was hoping to chat with anyone that may have any info on that setup. I have a lot of different questions about it and how to optimize it's use.

Peace | I will post some pics but at the moment I have to run. But Im talking about the kit that you can buy that comes with the 55 gal res control bucket, and the 2 gallon pots and baskets.

I perfer coco in any form, much much more than rockwool. It dosent get as compacted as easily and keeps more oxygen. It comes in loose form so you can mix perlite with it and raise the plants in a container (like a netpot), or it comes in mats that resemble the way rockwool comes. Oxygen levels to the rootzone are impervious in hydro, afterall....thats the point in raising your plants with a hydro system as the medium.

I heard that it is wierd stuff though. If it can supply the plant with more oxygen that sounds great. Ive been taught by my peers to use rockwool with the hydroton. I have been wondering if rockwool is not the most effecient medium for my grows. Can you tell me more?

Its pretty simple stuff really. They make special nutes for it but I use 3 part nutrients and have never found a need for it myself. Look out for cal deficiencies and get some cal-mag in case as they are frequent...
It requires a different ph as well. I find 5.8 to work best myself. but others I know who use it swear by 5.0

I have an Ebb & Grow system and so far really like it. Made my own grow buckets with 3.5 gallon instead of the 2 gallon buckets that comes with it. Hydroton with rockwool are what I use also. The one thing I did different was to add air stones to each pot. The water is about 3/4" deep when it is drained. I believe this keeps the roots happy when they get to that point. This is the only hydro system I have ever run, was and still am a soiless man. I just enjoy the Ebb Grow system along with the results. What lights are you planning on running?

What made you make the decision about going with the 3.5 gallon vs the 2 gallon? I too have been wondering if the 2 gallon pots are not big enough for vigorous growth. I plan on using 600s for veg and 1000s for bloom.

3.5 gallon was recommended by an older person who runs a system similar to the Ebb & Gro. One more mod was to use 3/4" hose instead of 1/2". Less water flow problems, easier to unclog roots that may grow into the hose. I have heard people claim the water will not fill the bucket enough with 5 gal or 3.5 gal. I have not had this problem at all, the 2 gallon are just to small for a good root growth in my mind. Have you decided on nutes? Super Natural is what I have started with, they seem to run a little hot and I am working my ppm up slowly. 600 w for me in both phases, sure would like to have a couple 1000w myself.
