this is the hardness of my cities water....is that really hard?

143 mg/l

lol, I'm not sure about that.. I go by the PPM straight out of my faucet. I've got anywhere from 270-300 ppm with no nutes. I'm growing fin with it. you just might wanna be a little carefull on the nutes unless you go distilled.

yea im using distilled right now too, but thats sh** is so exspensive, r/o filter sounds nice, but alot of them dont put out much water per day....

im about to switch to the r/o water at meijer, its only 29 cents a gallon!! not $1.19...

I now what you mean it costs alot.I'am paying $.64 a gal at wally world.Just picked up 25 gals tonight.I'am going to try this idea I got,next week.Take 20gals tap water and let it sit for 48 hours and check the ppm and the ph.If it's low like 200 ppm's I'am going to pump the water through a ice maker filter and see what the ppm's are.if that takes the ppm down lower it will be great for me.I know the filter removes chlorine so if it s not removing chlorine it may remove other crap in the water too.you can check these guys out for a R/O filter,there cheaper than most I have found.They will put out about 100 gals a day. so if you have a res that's more then 100gal then you are out of luck. Hey smoke I forgot to post it so here it is www.buckeyefieldsuppy.com. the prices at home depot are over $150.00 and these guys are like $100.00.The filter replacements are all the same.So when I have the exta cash I will be ordering one. PEACE
