Default shallow water dwc trial. 15g flat, six site recirculating; explanations inside...

ok, you guys have seen the tubs, they are a 15g rim full. water level stays at ten gal, 5 in the res, i dump once a day to check/alter pm. the water is recirculated continuously from the res, and back through the over flow in the center of the plant container.

there are two strains, three phenos in this experiment; two matanuska thunder**** (1), two matanuska thunder**** (2) and two afghan. the afghan are a couple weeks older than the mtf, and have a little root rot from transfer... so, they have been chopped back, top and roots, to stay at a more level growth rate with the mtf.

i'll be vegging these longer than i will the real attempt, as i have more room to do so, and do not have the time to spare. i need my meds, and i'm still trying to find a way to supply myself for under 1000w....

i have studied hydro systems extensively, and i have a pretty good feel for all of them; this is a combo of flood and drain and recirculating dwc. and sog to boot :D this just goes to show you what you can do when you want to... some of you remember my dog food bucket? :p

as for the particulars:

8 23w cfl's
mylar and white plastic walls
3'' net cups
gravel as medium
gh three part
cal/mag
superthrive
ph up
ph down
an hammerhead
florakleen
3 6'' tornado bubblestones
1 3way gangvalve
60g air pump (wally :p)
1/2'' black vinyl tubing
1/4'' black vinyl tubing
3 1/2'' id gromets
valve
302gph water pump
15g tall black res

so, pix talk louder, right?

I've heard you talk of this hammerhead before, what is it? I am also a Cal/Mag enthusiast, I use the whole botanicare line I really like it...

no, hammerhead is a pk bloom suplement 0-9-18. it's the best product i've ever used, and is canna specific; these values are great ;)

I'm assuming that the two larger plants are the afghan. I'm assuming MTF is also an indica, it's got a scary name, I hope the high is just as scary. You got them as clones, right? I have to check out this Hammerhead that you speak so fondly of. Did you know Videoman put up a product section were you can post some of your favorite stuff so everybody can learn about stuff first hand?

the two larger are the afghan; they had a slight root rot, and are ahead of the mtf, so i pruned them back to one node, leveling the playing field :p

i saw the new forum, i just haven't had the time yet

thanx gigs!

Root rot...yuck. I had that problem the first time I used Rapid Rooters to clone, those things hold water well. I lost quite a few clones to it....it was sad but I learned a valuable lesson. I don't understand what you mean by...

yep; this is a test; i'm going to see how the roots spread. as you've seen, i have three other containers, set up as 18 sites each. if all goes well, this six site will aslo become a 18 site, and i'll do sog. i have a clone in a 1l container now, it'll tell me what to expect for yield from each plant.

as for this grow, i'll be vegging them as long as i can without over crowding. i've grown three very close together, making a monster bush, now i'm going to try to let them have their own space. i'm not sure how long or how big, we'll get there when we get there ;)

Sorry one last question do you know what the two different MTF phenos are? Or are you waiting to see. Good idea with the 1l clone...I would have never thought of that.

i'm waiting to see; my beans were hand me downs; they came from kenai ak, and my friend said there was a possibility that her papaya male is the father of my beans. she also had a male mtf in there...

either way, it's great genetics; but, as they are from seed, there is possible variation. so far, one is bigger and taller, the other is more compact and bushy. very very close in looks and stature though.
