if you want a reliable way to get rooted clones, make yourself a bubble cloner, then, your worries will be over.

Hey ileso,You have to do a couple of things with rock wool cubes before you put the seedlys or clones in it. One soak the rw cubes in Ph water of around 5.5 to 5.8 .You want to remove the raper off the bottom and leave it on the sides.This will let the cubes drain.After soaking the cubes turn them over and pour Ph water throght them.and let them drain till there just good and damp.I use rapid rooter plugs,they work better for me and I dont have to Ph them just put the clone or germed seed in and grow. hey Ileso, just chill till you are more together and then I will shoot you all the links I can find on cloning. We will fix it for ya, babes. No point till you feel calmer though. Or you will frig it up. Just pm me when things are easier on you and don't frustrate your self now. Why add to it?

you still use the gel and stuff right? doesnt it get cleaned off with the agitated water?
what would happen if you just poured a bit of the rooting hormone in the water? wouldnt it also work?


um.. um just wondering... but it would be the same wouldnt it.. or maybe better??

I have gel and powder, but have read the gel can block the pores of the cuttings and make them more difficult to root. I don't know about that but just in case I use the powder. And I mix the gel into the water to add to the clone's rooting capabilities. There is also a product called clonex that is just used for the same reason. I think it will work the same with the rooting hormone in the water. It can't hurt anyway.

Hey there.

had to stop by and type my 2 cents on cloning.

in my experience with rockwool as the medium, Ive upped my success rate from 5% to 100% by buying 3 things and following a few simple rules.

Items:
1 and 2) cloning dome and tray for like 7$ for both.
3) $15 reptile heater.

Take your cuttings as normal...

Rules:
1) place heating pad under dome/tray, specifically under the cuttings and place a dry hand towel or washcloth in between heating pad and tray.

2) Twice Daily - using a spray bottle, spray medium (1.5" x 1.5" cubes) with 3-6 sprays, avoid spraying leaves as much as possible.

3) when inside of dome is dry, spray inside of dome only, to keep humidity level up. Do not spray too much!

**If water drops are dripping off the top and/or down the sides, youve sprayed too much.

lighting is provided by 2 - 2ft flouros sitting 1 inch above the dome.

Also, I just use plain old tap water for presoaking rockwool and for spraying. for me water is ph 6.8, that has been left uncovered for 8-24 hours.

My clones have nice thick roots poking from the medium in 7 days.

However you end up doing it, find a way that works for you.

look up hydroponics in your local phone book.you should be able to find a grow shop or ebay is a good place to get oasis cubes and rockwool cubes.pesonally i do the paper towel thing and use a seedling mat as soon as seeds crack and the tap root is visable i sow my seeds in rockwool and place them on the seedling heat mat or somewhere warm on a plate with a cd spindle top to cover. the rockwool seeds raise out the rockwool 2-3 maybe 4 days after 100 percent healthy seedling sprouts like this.make sure you air out the cubes every day for five minutes and water them with a cool temp light nutrient water mixture once a day also.
