Default Roots turning brown/green. Is this bad?

One of my Hydro plants (Sweet Willie 4) is changing root color; a thumbnail is below. Not sure if you can see it, but the C 99 next to it (same bin) is white as a June Bride...

Still in "flush" mode in the DWC, running plain water Ph'd to 5.5 and no nutes but a few drops of superthrive.

The plant appears healthy(er) on top, btu the discolored roots give me pause for concern.

Ideas? Treatments? I plan to introduce Nutes again this evening (to the existing bin water) at about 250 PPM (which is only 70 PPM up from where it is in plain water!).

yea i had a little root rot last grow and it looked nothing like that, look for the brown roots then you have a problem, and even then, just add 2-3 tsp/gal of hydrogen peroxide (i used food grade 3%) into the reservoir and your good....lol

Hi Blake,

Water temp is 67 F.

Light "could" be an issue, but I have 3 other plants in the same set-up (2 bins) and they are all rooted white as snow, so it must be some unwanted critter causing the problem.

Shaman: Sounds like a good idea. I am adding the nutes this eve when they wake up, and if it isn't cleared up by Thurs (I'm out-of-town tomorrow) then I'll add a few drops of H/P.

Building a "Bud Drying Cabinet" right now. Never made anything even close, so lots of backwoods engineering going into this thing.

light is an issue. always. don't think it's not or you WILL END UP WITH PROBLEMS!!!!

the brown is the begining of algea growth. light proof your container and they should get pretty and white again.

now, if you're using a canna specific formula, flower mixes can "stain" the roots a reddish brown color (micro), and that's nothing to be worried about.

love, aleatha

I was using Canna nutes (Aqua Vega) but switched to another (Plant Marvel). I plan to use a combo of the PM Cal-Mag plus the Aqua Vega. Should resolve the issues. I tried using epsom salts, but it sent the PPM ballistic, so that isn't working for me, yet. I want to run these at low PPM till I know if they are planning on remaining helathy, or continue to be they are just picky ladies.
