| OK folks...looks like I got me titty in a ringer and stuck good, this time. One of my plants (BlackBerry3) has been in a DWC bucket since the 14th. It wasn't rooting well, and I added 10 ml. Rhizotonic root stuff...still didn't want to root well. The roots were not white as they should be, but were not "nasty" looking either. Changed the bucket out and lowered the nutes, plus added 2 tsp. Hydrogen Peroxide. That didn't help much...made them a little whiter for a day or so. Changed the bucket again, and this time lowered nutes even more, added 2 tsp. Hydrogen peroxide and made sure it was a spotless bucket before I filled it. Running a single 5" round stone and all the air it wants (not boiling the water, but lots of small bubbles just shy of boiling it). Bucket has: About 4 gal water. -0- PPM starting and 7.0 Ph starting out I added: 2 tsp. Organic cal mag 2 tsp Hydrogen Peroxide 3% 10 ml. ea. part Aqua Vega PPM in the end was 460, and Ph was adjusted to 5.5 Water level had been at the bottom of the net basket, and dropped it to 1" down last night thinking maybe the water was too high and causing the rot. This morning they are even nastier. I can post a pic after 2pm when they wake up. Suggestions? Should I try some of the clearex and see if they can clean up? The plant really doesn't look all that bad, but is fading and I don't want to lose it if it can survive this attack of root slime. ISO

I *think* the problem is this organic cal-mag. It does not seem to blend well with the aqua vega (Canna) nutes. I am going to get a bucket of pure water warming up to 65 F. and start over with a cal mag I trust, the Plant Marvel dry powder. That might clear it up too, as I never had this problem before using it. Other plants have roots that are not as white as they should be, but are not nasty looking either. Won't do anything though until after you see some pics, then we can make a bucket for it with whatever is suggested. ISO

| I think you may of hit in on the head. Organics and hydro is not a great mix. What you could do, is toss her into soil for 4-5 days, it'll get real healthy, real quick, than transplant it back into hydro....or leave it be. Peace Quote:

| She is looking better today! Not a huge improvement, but the roots are much lighter in color than they were last night. Here are some shots of BLKB3 (BlackBerry3) started in veg 12/14, The WhoopAss2 (along with roots) started 12/9 and BLKB2 started 12/4. BLKB2 is now 17" tall, and growing very full...hope she can give me about 6 good clones in the next 10 days or so. ![]() The roots lightening up might be from lowering the water level down below the net basket, as it is still on the organic liquid cal-mag. I've got a new bucket near ready to go, but think I'll hold off and use it for replacing the bucket for a C-99 in flower right now. She is due, and if this one is going to "get well" then no sense me tossing 5 gal of good nute solution! ISO (btw, I am short on water...pray for RAIN in WA. (we have been getting snow...and that is also a good water since melted it is -0- PPM and 6.8 Ph!)

| Hey ISO you hit the nail on the head with organic.it's having a fight with your roots and it will when.I use cal-mag plus by botanicare. It has 0.1% chelated iron [fe],the air stone will and can knock out iron. The organic has bacteria that breaks down in the water and gives you calcium. This starts nut lock out and some of the bacteria starts breaking down the roots, called root rot.The organic dont mix with salt fers very well at all.The roots that you have hanging down are long and will hang in the water.Lower the water to about 2" under the net pot that will help in roots getting o2 also.PEACE

| "that stuff messes up all my rain collecting tarps" That made me think of the Rambo movie. First Blood I think. I think toke has the best advice. I have heard where using h202 (peroxide) will help tremendously with root rot. I have heard of people using it on a regular basis along with when you leach salts as a preventative maintenance. | ||||||||

I was using 2 tsp. h202 in the buckets already, and had tried adding an additional 2 tsp. to that plant. It helped little, but also confirmed to me that something else was going on that had to be fixed, fast. She's doing much better tonight in the fresh bucket. I used 1 tsp. Plant Marvel Cal-Mag in 3 1/2 gal. (good all around nute) and it set the Ph at 5.5 and the PPM was 500. I'll know for sure it she's gonna make it in a day or two. Plant still appears healthy above the basket, it's just her innards that are sick..I hope. ISO
