Default Ordering hydro stuff advice needed

Alright guys and gals, tonight I get paid, which means I get to blow more of my cash on my favorite money pit! I want to get 2 DWC buckets for my grow room. I'm going to pick up 2 5gal Home Depot buckets. I already have a DWC cloning box. My questions are:

1) Should I get 6" or 10" diameter lid tops to fill with hydroton? Heres what I'm looking at.

High Tech Garden Supply

Remember my grow space is only about 6 feet.

2)What nutrients should I use? I was thinking 3 part GH Flora. Anyone used this and like it? Do you know of a feeding chart/schedule for GH Flora 3 part?

3)Should I use the sunleaves starter plugs, or rockwool cubes? Here:

High Tech Garden Supply

4)Any other suggestions? (Note: I am also getting a TDS pen and calibration solution, pH Up/Down, 2 tube air pump, a better 6" duct fan, Ona gel, air stones, etc)

Get the 6". It takes alot less hydroton to fill (cheaper). And its alot easier to lift.

GH is always a safe bet. There's a thread on nutrients in the hydro section with feeding schedules.

Pretty much any starter plug or cube will do.

High Tech Garden Supply

4)Any other suggestions? (Note: I am also getting a TDS pen and calibration solution, pH Up/Down, 2 tube air pump, a better 6" duct fan, Ona gel, air stones, etc)
Sounds like you have it all pretty much covered.

Dieabetic:

OK, go with the 6" lids, as that is what I use and they are mega stable...no need to waste all that extra hydroton filling that big space.

If you go with the GH 3 part there are bunchs of folks here that use and really do well with it, and can also give you tons of advice. Good choice.

I prefer Rapid Rooters, but some folks do real well with the rockwool too (I use it on occassion.

Hope that helps ya!

HidHut doesnt have all the stuff I need, and they are usually more expensive. I love High Tech Garden.

Thanks for the advice/encouragement everyone. Of course I'll make a journal of it.

i would leave the ONA gel and get myself a carbon filter instead, i don't trust the covering approach as it leaves even more smell that could cause suspicion against you - keep in mind: strong odor = grow up!
