Default Moving a plant from Soil to Hydro?

Seems the new system is getting "dialed in", and I want to move another plant into it, but the plant has been in soil now for about 2 weeks. Still small, but has been in a 3 gal pot.

Can I carefully remove the plant from the pot, gently wash the roots of all the soil and then put it into a 5" netbasket and have it grow up in the ebb/flo system?

I really don't have a space for the bucket to sit any more, as the ebb/flo tray takes up my whole growing bench!

I'm sure it's been done before, but if there are any tricks I can take advantage of in the process?

A pic of the Little Lady to be moved is below...

Thanks MUCHO, in advance!

you could even shorten its roots by 50% and plant it in some hydro system.

This shouldn't be a problem as long as you start it out with VERY weak nutes. You could very easily burn it and kill it if you give it the regular solution.

I've taken clones from soil based moms and planted in Hempy Buckets (basically container with a hole about 1" from the bottom containing a soil less medium 70% perlite and 30% vermiculite) and started it right away with nutes without a problem. Good luck.

Thanks all. Got her moved yesterday, and so far she is doing well.

I am running 300 PPM right now, and today is the 3rd day for 2 of the 3 that are in the ebb/flo.

Each plant has one nice root dropping out of the netbasket, but that is it...just one long thread of a root..LOL! Hopefully, in a couple days I'll see more roots developing and popping out all over...

Hoping I can then reduce the number of floods (currently 7 - 15 min. floods over a 20 hr. period) and increase the nutes slowly up to about 500 max.

With the combo of nutes I'm running it seems the lower PPM's produce just as well as the higher numbers. Less nute used means less chance for burns and other problems...and I hate to rush the plants, ever, preferring they do what they do in their own natural way.

Hey ISO, the time of your floods are 15 mins. Now is that from the time the tray is full and drains back to the res.Or is that the time the pump runs.I will have to go find it where I got this infor but I set my system up to fill the tray and drain back to the res should not take more than 15 mins top's, My tray floods in 2 mins pump runs total 8 mins and drains back all in 15 mins.. I read this in my reserach before I started running my EBB , try it and it works so that's what I do. PEACE

Ok...now things make more sense...and explains why my plants are looking overwatered.

My floods are set that the pump runs for 15 min (fills to the overflow at 6 1/2 min.) and takes about 2 min to fully drain. Although all these plants, just being transplanted, are a bit shocky still and just babe's, they should be a bit "perkier" than they are. It certainly isn't that they are thirsty...no sign of that at all, just droopy and water logged.

I'll adjust the time tonight and see if that makes a difference...should notice the change by tomorrow night, I hope.

No pics tonight, but will take some in the AM. Been too dizzy all day to do much, and every time I sat down in front of the computer the screen would "blend" sideways from the vertigo...and that was BEFORE I smoked a bowl!

Honestly, that's all it takes to straighten out my vestibular nerves...stuff is like a medicine from the Gods themselves...
