Hydroton and ph increase

has anyone noticed that they're hydroton increases the ph steadily?... because i noticed that the first week in the bubbler, i had a hard time keeping the ph down, everyday it would rise from 5.8 to 6.5-6.8... until i changed the reservoir for the first time a week later (which i noticed brownish red dusty stuff in the water,the same color of hydroton) , after that it was fine.
but now i soak my hydroton for a day along with my rockwool just to make sure everything is in ship-shop-shape
am i the only one with this problem? maybe it has something to do with the brand im using... its called....mm.... easy green... if that matters..

Hey Smoke,You have to soak the hydroton and wash them first.They are PH neutrail. the rockwool you will have problems with ph rising.I use a cap full of bleach in the wash water and then rinse them off.You can try this set up your system with out plants,PH the water and run it for aday checking the PH and then clean the res out and and start the water with the nutr.This may help stop the rise of the PH in the start up.PEACE

ya agreed always rinse good then i soak in ph'ed water then one more rinse in ph'ed water and then in the cup
