Default how do my clones look???

i just built a new clone box, real simple like ya know... but it works... o yeah also i was looking at my plant and i broke her stem the other day... not to bad but kinda, she is split right up the center of the stem about a 1/4 inch i put a piece of electric tape around her but not very tight...i dont have a pic of her yet but will shortly... and i know i dont have much light but im hoping that 4 cfls and a led will be sufficient plus im just doing clones.

awesome, im sure that going to work out just fine for you. 4 CFL's is plenty for rooting, for there is no growth durring that time anywhere but in the new roots. Good stuff!

edit- AND the LED's?! I didnt notice that part.... your fine! they just need enugh to help em stand straight while the roots are developing. Ill be interested in a follow up.

You would do fine just with the LED's to start. It is very easy to burn clones as they cannot deal with too much light or heat.

If they are limp then they need to have a dome over them to keep the humidity in. Any kind of cover. And very very low light. I just use one or two T-8 flourescent tubes for cloneing and seedlings, until they have some root growth. Otherwise they have a hard time keeping hydrated. Okay, did you just take ALL of these clones? Sorry I think I misunderstood at first. It could be too hot in there if they are limp. Also, keep them warmer than a vegging plant. I have found about 80 to 85 is good, helps them root faster.

That's way to hot.Have you try and put a fan in there to move the air around. They wont root at that temp. Peace

you can root them with 1-2 of those cfl's...turning off the other lights should help a bit with the temps.

So you have to
#1 lower the temp...only one bulb. They have great little fans at wally world for like 5 bucks.

#2. put a dome over them, even inverted clear cups over each one will do it, and aim the light away from the domes so the they don't burn.

#3. You can mist them with water to help them rehydrate, not sopping, but enough so they will get more moisture fast. They cannot uptake it from their roots, they don't have any so they have to get it from the air.

If they still don't perk up I would go so far as to take them out of the rooters, if they have no roots ONLY!! and put the whole cutting in water, and they will perk up just like limp celery does, then replant, cover them and keep the heat lower.

Peace

Too much light and heat! Clones only need a bit of indirect light til they root....and anyhting over 85F and you'll end up with MUSH for stems.

I would turn off the lights, mist them lightly, and dome them. Once/if they perk up....then unscrew 3 of the 4 CFL's and go back to 24/0 and hope for the best.

All the above is good advice,
keep the root zone warm and the air temp lower if you can,
and yes, clones need very little light till new growth is started,
keep the humidity up,i even use a small humidity gauge under the dome to keep tabs on it,also mist the inside of the dome and not the plants to get the humidity up,try to resist the urge to mist the cuttings,it only prolongs root growth.

I think those might just be toast if you don't do something fast, hon. Hate to be the barer of bad news.

You never answered my questions: When where they cut and do they have roots on them?

If not it is time for emergency measures and do it fast or they will not make it. Take them out of the rototone, and soak them in water. the whole cuttings, stem, leaves and all, and see if you can get them rehydrated, then recut the ends, redip them and put them back in the rockwool thingies...and then dome them. Cut down the light to just ONE light, and hope they don't wilt on you again. I also cut all the leaves in half or less, so take all the crispie parts of the leaves off and just keep half of the leaves. This cuts down the surface area for water to evaporate from and also reduces the amount of leaves the cutting has to keep alive.

Hope it is not too late, buddy....

Good luck.

well that sucks,i don't think those will bounce back now.
i know the feeling to loose cuttings it's a real shame but keep at it and with some practice you'll get it.Lots of good advice here to get you going.
Your mother needs some attention before i would take any more cuttings,it's health is the cornerstone of sucessfull cuttings.

yeah i had taken them out of that hot shed and broght them inside and trimmed them up a lil and dipped them in water and some more root teck rooting gel put them in domes and set them in the window seal...; it might be a lossed cause but its my first time to ever take clones so if i can get these to bounce back i can get anything to bounce back.... and i really need away to keep it cooler in the shed im running a pretty big air ionizer and 2 fairly small fans but keep some good air moving and i still dont think that is enough... and i cant bring anymore inside... and whats something i can mix up and make a spray to help my momma out???

If I may I'd like to make a suggestion

Lose the TUBS. The heat concentrates in there...and thus...the well-done cuts. Get that mom outta there also...and nix the fan blowing directly on her for now.

wherever ya got the rapidrooters has a tray and a dome. these are crucial in this process, IMO.

Wet the plugs
make the hole in the plug deeper....
dip the cut in root hormone
stick in plug
dome all cuts
place in indirect light w/ temps never exceeding 80-85 in the area
mist top of dome/check moisture levels in plugs daily. They should be damp but not soaking wet.

keep all these conditions stable for 7-14 days and you should see root formation.

DO Not put the rapidrooter in hydroton/larger cups until you see lots of roots coming out of the plug. Even then they will dry out fast suspended in the air like that w/no water/drip so you will have to water them 2x a day for awhile.

it's all a learning process but once you get it it will no longer be a COMPLETE challenge and screw ups will only happen from time to time. (we are stoners, after all)

try, try again....and know that you WILL have success if you listen and meet all of the parameters folks are telling you above.

ww

You say you dipped them in water....you have to soak them fully submersed in water for a couple of hours to see if they will rehydrate. Not just dip them in the water. And if you have them on the window sill that is fine, but be sure they do NOT get direct light or they will cook again.

Let us know how it goes, and we will keep helping you buddy. In time, you will get it.

Peace

I had the best luck with the bubble cloner. You won't run into issues with them drying out with one of these. I also think roots developed more quickly this way than when I tried using rockwool. I just pulled a few clones out of rockwool last night and fired up my bubble cloner because they just weren't rooting like I wanted. I have already seen them "green up" and start to pop more roots in less than 24 hours.

Bubble cloner

Maybe give that a shot?

yea, see if you can get a few computer fans or something like that. They will work great. 100 is way too hot though, sorry i overlooked that earlier, didnt realize it was enclosed like that.

I agree about using a bubble/areo cloner,i have lost 100's of clones in other mediums and with areo cloning my results improved alot.
Most issues with clones are not an issue when in a areo style unit. Many types to choose from or you can build your own for about $40 or less.
