people clone clones of clones of clones. from what ive heard it does not affect potency or vigor. some have used the same mother/clones of the mother for years with no problem. clone all you want, just dont let bugs or disease come along with the new plant :-)

I have heard tales of clones of clones of clones lossing vigor...but never actually met a person that it happened to, MJ is an annual plant and like any living creature genes tend to accumulate mistakes that can lead to loss of vigor, but I am not going to worry about it until I have some evidence that it is really a problem...just like DieAbetic I think the spider mites will be more of a problem then any loss of vigor.

In the plant world people have been cloning for hundreds of years and we would not today have the gorgous roses or apple trees we have if plants lost vigor through cloning and grafting. And that is just to name a few things that are traditionally bred through cloning, and also grafting. Plants genetics do not change unless something changes them, so sliding care can lead to lower quality pot and the cloning be blamed. Which came first? chicken or the egg dilema.

the heavy duty cure...shut down operations....get rid of house plants....spray down everything....start again from seed....never go to the grow room from outside w/o a shower and change of clothes....drastic but I had a friend that had to take it that far to be rid of the borg...resistance is not futile

Hey Everybody,Taking clones and taking more clone from clones or from the mother, the clone is exactly alike. It is the same plant DNA the mother has.Your clone will not get better if clone the clone it is the same.It is what it is.Some grower have keep mother for a fews years and clone 20 to 50 clones at a time, keeping the same potency every time. Now saying that the mother or the donor is in top health at the time of cloneing and the same if you are cloneing a clone.I would say that at the time you took the clones it's donor was a little sick from something. This could cause the clone to be a little weak. Well hope this helps. Peace

jangel correctly points out that apples and roses have been grown from clones of clones of clones for hundreds of years

toke re-iterates that clones must of necessity be genitically identical to the mother

MJ is an annual not a perannial like roses or apples...and so there may be some differences.

when cells grow and divide in any living creature they tend to make an excact copy with the exact same genetic info...but things like the accumulation of free radicals (yucky stuff that is in the enviroment and self created) and UV sunlight can make that copying mechanism fail...as creature reach the end of their natural life span...the ability to compensate for and repair genetic damage decreases...that may even be the cause of aging...so because MJ is naturally a short lived plant (unlike roses) loss of vigor via genetics will happen eventually but not so much in five year...I don't think anyone has documented a clonal only line that is say 15+ years but if they did I would be surprised and while the genes for potency may not have degraded much...other things like disease resistance probably will in such a time span

can you tell I enjoyed my class in genetics?

knottyd swears by these. I picked some up at Lowe's and the aliens were eliminated. Don't know if they will resist the borg as I have not been blessed by their presence. Couldn't hurt to try them.

When I was still growing a while back I used two of them in a 10'x12' room. Nary a critter in site the whole time they were in there.
