You can, but it sure wouldn't be a good idea...
Get some SWEET, from Botanicaire. I know there are other carbo loaders out there, but this one I've used, and with excellent success.
Save the molasses for the soil plants, hydro takes something a bit more refined.

Yeal I dito that ISO,refined sugar is the the way to go in hydro.Botanicaire sweet is one of the hydro carbs you can add and AN carbo load is good to.I have used both and sweet is easyer to mix as the AN is a thich gel like you add to the res it works very well.Soil molasses is great,In hydro no inless you have a res over 60gallons and it is circulate in the tank 24-7. Peace

I am growing in Hydro and I have added Molasse to my res (way over 60gl as Toke has suggested) and the water is circulating all the time (one pump mix the nutes inside the tank and one pump send the water to a water chiller, both pumps are on 24/7) and so far my plants love it. Probably the amount has to do with it, Hatch has recommend me just to use 1 to 2ml per gallon (one tbsp equal 7ml, and in soil most people use one or two tbsp per gallon)
I just wanted to add this info as I have read the same cncern with Molasse and Hydro in different sites, but I can assure your plants will love the Molasse
Regards

highly problematic if not diluted enough - in an 5gal DWC with 2-3gal water a 1/4 tea spoon will cause already massive foam build up that then will coat your babies roots. it really has to be highly diluted. in E&F it can work or it can kill your pump in no time - and a pump failure means most of the time a sudden death of our entire grow.
mono saccharides like fructose are far less problematic in hydro, so better look in that direction...
