Rep Power: 21 | | add nutes first, or stabilize PH first?
I was wondering if I should adjust the ph to the level I want, THEN add my nutes, or should I add my nutes first THEN adjust PH?

put in nutrients THEN pH the solution. some nutrients can change the pH is the reason. for example many bloom booster nutrients (like TigerBloom from Foxfarm) have a very low pH. pretty much no matter what you put in the nutrient mix, always pH at the end right before you are going to water.

Previously I never bothered with PH. I had just switched from dirt to hydro, nobody I knew grew, I didn't have internet to learn from forums, it was pretty much trial and error. Then I went to Hawaii for a spell, and have been reading alot online since getting a laptop and joining the computer revolution. lol I think I figured out alot of reasons why my yield just weren't what I was hoping for. Hopefully this round will be much better as I feel far more educated every day. ;)

Hey K, what nutrs are you using? If using the GH 3-part alway mix the mirco first in the water. It's just about that way for all 3-part mixes. When I mix my nutrs I let the mirco mix for about hour in the tub with a air stone bubbling. Then I mix in the grow be sure to stir the mix good and then add the bloom.Let them mix for a hour or two with the air stone running.Check the PH and adjust if needed. The GH nutr are PH buffer, and most of the time I hit 5.6,5.8 after they are mix. When I add them to the res they are mixed and PH stable.Less problems doing it this way.But it's mirco first. Peace

I am using the BC grow boost and bloom. I had a gallon of each left over from my last project. Is there something out there that is proven to be better? If so, tell me about it, i'm always open to better ideas/products.

Nutes then ph. I use Orchid food. It is inexpensive and it works. The brand that I use has NO UREA.

By the way you're supposed to wait for a day or so after a new tank of nutes before adjusting the ph. I started doing this and the ph has been WAY more stable throughout the grow cycle. Otherwise you'll be adjusting every day and it will be jumping all over the place.

Hi there
Nutes then Ph.
As suggested above, I have noticed that if I mix very well the nutes in the rez (with a circulating pump) and then I adjust the Ph, the Ph will remain more stable than if I mix the nutes, Ph the rez and inmediatly use it for watering (I have a drain and flood system, with Ph´ed expanded clay pellets)
Peace
