I'm going to be using this recipe that Videoman posted a while back, a simple organic recipe that works well
I was wondering if anyone has used this mix before??
and if so, can i add any kind of nutes to it?? For Vegging:
I was looking at Miracle-Gro Liquid All Purpose Plant Food.
The N-P-K is 12-8-4. So if i use at 50% strength it will be 6-4-2, which is simular to Fox Farm Grow big (6-4-4) For Flowering:
I was looking at Miracle-Gro Liquid Quick Start.
The N-P-K is 4-12-4. So at 75% strength it will be 3-9-3, which is simular to Fox Farm's Tiger Bloom (2-8-4)
Is there any other nutes i can buy at Homedepot or Walmart??
Thanks in advance. |

I would recommend you check out the "Alaska" brand fish emulsions for a veg nute. You can get it at wallyworld cheap and it's organic. Not what i use but i have been a sheep when it comes to my nutes. I have used the fish before on my outdoor garden and i have a friend who uses it inside with good results.

Yea, i'll probobly just use the alaska Fish emulsion, cause i'm trying to stay all organic here. and i dont want to put chemicals in my grow with MG.
Is there anything else i can add during flowering? besides the bat guano and molasses??

That mixture you are posting the recipe for is a tried and true mix. The MG organic choice is not like the other type of soil with the fertilizer in it. I have used this or a variation of this for a while now and have had great results.
It works very very well and I recommend it all the time.
Peace

God i bought some Hyponex once. That **** was like broke up pieces of parking lot when dry and instantly went to nasty sticky mud when wet. I'm all for saving a buck but even MG soils seem like amazing mediums compared to hyponex.
I tried to cut it with perlite to, it helped but i still threw it away without even using it. I will confess however that it was the dead of winter and the bags i bought were stored outside and frozen solid. For anyone having good results with hyponex give yourself a pat on the back cause it has to be added difficulty.

I have used the hyponex quite extensively. I added lots of perlite. It worked fine.
I'm probably going to catch hell for this, but, I say, "Go ahead and use the MG nutes. Unless you're an organic fanatic, they'll work just fine. Just go light, with them.
I use MG Organic potting soil, now. I don't add perlite, or anything else. Straight MG Organic. I put rooted clone into 16 oz. plastic cup, filled with MGO. About 2 weeks later, it goes into 1 gallon bag, with MGO. After another 2 weeks, I start feeding, very lightly. Works for me. Very simple. And a mere $8 for a 32 dry quart bag.

If i can't find ant Pro-mix at the store then i'll just go ahead and use Hyponex. And i dnt know now, if i have the extra cash to spare i might get the MG nutes. @ Jangle: Can you post a pic of one of your plants that you grew with this recipe?? Extra Info: This is going to be an outdoor grow. I will have 3 plants in 5 gal. pots

I am also a fan of Vids recipie......easy as pie, works great, not expensive woohoo!
Course if money and organic are not issues I would get promix BX and foxfarm soluable nute tri pack for flower...that just stuff worked well also..just cost me more.
if you are looking for recommendations I would stick with the simple easy cheap before I decided if I need to sink another $100 in nutes...you may be totally pleased w/o the expensive name brand stuff.

Ok, thanks everyone, i'm just going to stick to the original recipe. I'm not trying to spend a whole lot on this grow. I'm really short on money, so i'm trying to spend under $100

I've grown successfully with miracle grow ferts in the past and never had any trouble. I see alot of grumbling about it though. It's cheap and if you use 1/2 of the recommended amount you won't have any trouble. I've also used the cheapest of the cheap potting soils and had pretty decent success although I think you would do better with more quality soil.

Don't mean to bring up my old thread, but i just have 2 more questions about the soil mix,,
1.) Instead of using Maxicrop Liquid Seaweed, Can I use Alaskan Fish Emulsion? I can't find any seaweed extract, so can i just use this instead?
2.) Is there any thing i can use instead of Bat guano? I can't find any of this either. Maybe Blood Meal?
The only sources I have for supplies is Walmart and Home depot. I didn't check Home Depot for the supplies, but I highly doubt they will have them. I'll call tomorrow. |

as long as you use caution and dont go overboard with the blood meal that will be fine, as for fish emulsion, i havent got any experience, i just throw a fish in the hole.

you can find bat guano at local grow shops & nurseries usually. This link may help you find some locally
If you can't find this stuff locally, why not just buy it online (or have someone else do it for you if you can't buy online) ?
