Perlite?
Try Home Depot, Lowes or a major Nursery type store. I just bought a huge bag of it for $18 (US) at my local nursery. I add a lot of Perlite to the soil blend I use, and that bag will last me through till about July.

I used to get a 4 cubic foot bag for $20. That was from a local nursery. But, I have since been using straight "Fertilome" ultimate potting soil mix. I add some lime, but that's it. It doesn't compact. I wish I had been using this stuff all along. Very simple and cheap. $20 for a 3 cubic foot bag.

Rep Power: 202 | | Any building supply store will carry perlite in 4 to 8 cubic foot bags. $12 to 30 bucks for industrial/agricultural grade. Sterilized with no additives or treatments... Which is want you want to use anyway... Peace. | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to Zigzagman For This Useful Post: | |

I agree, they like to get out of my containers so I stick to just using their castings for the nutrients and perlite to prevent compacting and add oxygen to the soil indoors.
Or just go hydro, then the only thing that youll need is
-nutrients
-ph adjusting stuff
-plants
-light
simpler for me....

Also, Ive tested miracle grow brand of perlite with the "added nutrients" sales pitch....
its just a sales pitch I cant notice where there are any added nutrients to be used in the stuff.
A friend of mine hates that company and was worried about using the product so I tested it and it didnt kill my plants... dosent say what new chemicals were introduced to them because of it though I guess.

MG perlite burned my plants because I fed them, normally, without being aware that MG was also feeding them.

I use advanced nutes 3 part or general hydro 3 part and feed very very heavily and also tried that perlite in soil I prepared for seedlings that was mixed hot on its own (which I dont normally do but did as a test).
How do you feed your plants for that tiny bit of nutrients to have burnt them?

well some of them stay in there sometimes.... But worms can be roamers when they dont have enough room. Best not to risk finding them in your grow dried up like you see them on the sidewalk to me...

I use potting soil mixed with composted leaves, peat moss and mix in a 12oz cup of masonary sand to a 3 gallon container.
