once its been left out for awhile it is at least better, because you can bubble out that chlorine. the thing about tap water is really the ppm and pH. personally, my city's tap water is pH 8.0+, ppm 400+....thats pretty hard water. so even if you leave out the water for a day, it still has a very large amount of minerals and salt build-ups in there. and those (400ppm for me), are not the same as a 400ppm of nutrients, because your plant cant use most of the build-up salts in the tap water. this leads to problems calculating nutrients, often leading to nutrient burn. in addition, the large mineral and salt buildup can actually lock out other nutrients, causing deficiencies. also the pH can fluctuate alot more with tap water, especially in hydro systems.
so if you are using tap water play it careful. your water may simply be too high of ppm, or have too many salts to really be good for your plants. if you dont want to buy distilled water or get an RO filter for the whole thing, maybe just get distilled water for part of res/nutrients. that will at least take the ppm down a bit and possibly stabalize the pH
good luck hope this helps :-)

I use RO water, and have the same probs you will experiance, Shane. You will most likely have to add some mag/cal to the mix. Both of these types of water have none in them and so your plants will need to have this added into the mix. I just add per bottle instructions for a gallon. pretty simple fix, but just watch out for that.
Peace

HI,
If your water is hard: 8 or 9 this is not great ... it is wise to adjust it !
Outside the problem less sérious ;)
as if at home, it is + sweet: There are no problem ...
You can add your water has a little Rhizotonic... (for exemple)...
It adjusts the pH alone ... (like all CANNA products, there are amino-acids in it) and as Rhizotonic is a good product that will root = TOP ! Good roots is essential ...
GOOD ROOTS = GOOD PLANTS !

Hey UCS,If you are using the GH3-part go ahead and use the cal-mag right along with the 3-part.It mixes with the nutr just fine.I do and it works fine for me.I have hard water and the ppm's are around 400 ppm's to start.I filter my tap water I use which brings the ppm's down to around 200 ppm's.I add the botanicare cal-mag at 5mls per gal of water. You are in soil so you dont have to worry about it to much, the soil will buffer the nutr mix some.Test your water before and after you bubble off the chlorine and you will have a better under standing of what the ppm's are before you add nutr. With just a few plants distilled water is the way to go to me.Peace

Yes, Shane, just add it to the water when you water them. Use as per the instructions on the bottle.
Hope it helps.

Hi Shane check out your tap water first if you can work with it you are better off then buying it. It is not the cost as much as the weight to get it home. At 4 weeks into flower I was using 10 gallons a week +. Add into that flushing you will have some big muscles or some pain depending on you I guess. LOL For me it's all about pain the less the better. | | The Following User Says Thank You to I8ntLucky_UR For This Useful Post: | |

Check on-line for a water quality report for your city, it will give a break down in ppms of the waters content.

Shane, you can also get a water filter that will get rid of most of the junk for ya, babes. Even one of those jug ones will help. Like Brita water filters? Just remember to change the filter when they say to.

I use an RO filter in my basement, into an 18 gal res (tub from wall-mart). Like many... my city water has 8 ph and I don't even know the ppm but assumed it wasn't good either.
RO water tend to run low on mag... so I add a little epsom salt to the water, whenever I'm not adding nutes. This practice has worked out pretty cheap and very well for me.

Shane i'm guessing your living in the South of England, WHY? because they have very Hard water. LOL.
A friend of mine has the same problem, so she fitted a water softner under the sink. It works like a Britta filter. If it works great, if not your water will taste 100% better.

Not sure what to recommend for you over there, but I will have a friend drop by that lives in Ireland. He will have a better idea than I do.
